Just remember to take your time. And once you feel your done. Have another look at the mod. Do that and it's really easy to do'em.

Hi guys,
can somebody let me in on a secret where exactly do you measure the voltage of your core on the R9700... I mean I have seen the photo and the exact point but there is only ONE point, not two and my multimeter has two sticks as I am sure everyone elses does. So where do I stick the black one and where the red one??? I tried both at the same point but dont get anything.
Come on, I need some encouragement as I've already done the VCore mod but cant set the proper resistance on the VR.
Thanx a lot for any help.

Hmmm, I actually got it. :D
You pop the black stick into the ground anywhere on your system and the red one on the dot...
OK, so It says 1.76. Is that alot voltage for stock air cooled core????
Whats the max core speed I can get this way???
I got it up to 370 sort of thing... it seems to be stable. Ran 3Dmark01 all the way.
How about Vmem? Do i need to do that as well to go further???
Any suggestions very appreciated.

Hi!
I just completed the mod the other day.
Mr. Malves told me that if you're on stock, you shouldn't go more than 1.8 vcore and 3.2 vmem w/o ramsinks...
i am at 1.8 vcore and 3.15 mem
i've gotten 432 core and 355 mem
i was at 325 / 310 so... not too bad....
now i gotta get my grubby hands on a 9800 pro and try vmodding it... failed twice but i got it now!

i have a similar card and i have used the 9700pro mods to vmod the core and memory - 1.75V and 3.3V respectively... running 430Mhz core and 360Mhz memory now :)
theres a socket a heatsink (80X60mm) modded to fit for cooling.

One of the best ways to check a mod is the "Short Test".
Basically a good way to make sure you are making solid contact to the pin in question, and not with other nearby components.
Grab ye ole DMM and set it to check resistance, then change the setting to check for "Open".
