Hello all,
I have learned a great deal from this forum and I am looking to make the jump into phase change cooling. I have the chance to buy a vapochil from someone but I do not know what version it is. How could I tell what version of compressor it is (ie original or PE) by looking at the compressor?

allright i found out it is a SE, now about how much do you think one of those would be worth? it seems as though no online places have it listed anymore for sale, as it is just the XE and PE models.
a used on?
300$ (what does a mach1 cost in the states currently?)

FYI...
SE=BD35
PE=BD50
XE=BD35..!
In laymans terms, the SE and XE are the same units with different gas. The PE is a BD50 (larger compressor head/same motor assy) and does not run the fancier gas - therefore the smaller BD35 XE is in fact superior. (I said laymans!) - therfore, either way the BD35 is the one you want, because if its an SE you can convert it - or - if its an XE then you're already home and hosed...

If the unit has an additional 80mm fan blowing on the compressor electronics it is a XE unit.
Edit:
I missed that you already found out it's a SE ;)
I should better read before posting.

Is there somewhere a sticker or smthg like that showing R404a? Or is there a 80mm fan blowing on the compressor electronics?
Then it definately is an XE unit.

There is a sticker saying only XE but no 80mm fan blowing on the electronics

If there is a XE sticker it should be a XE but I wonder why there's no additional 80mm fan.

Unless someone has an SE and has stuck an XE sticker on it after modding it to 404a themselves... and then sold it on as an XE...
Are there any linetaps visible on the tubing of the compressor??

Linetap is shown center left of the compressor... small silver thang attached to a tube...

Could you provide a picture of the unit?
