Well guys here comes that special time when one sells his FX-51 and goes 100% hardcore. Please no intel bashing :D

Well I am on a tight budget atm so please help me make the right choice. MUST BE ONE of these rigs please dont say wait for A64 939pin or that crap. Lets keep things on topic. Before we start just so you all know I really appreciate this

I would go with the IC7-Max3 option #1, I just love OTES. it looks cool. Probably the P4 best board next to the P4C800-e.

Why do you want to slow it down w/ high latency RAM?
Get BH5.
IC7MAX3 is a strong board. Should do nicely.

Only reason I wanted this ram is because someone said that tight timings dont really matter on cw boards

I think it was you macci who should a p4 @ 4.1ghz using 1:1 ratio but slow timings scoring the same as a p4 @ 4.3ghz w/ bh-5 ram @ 2-2-2-5

which ram should i get that can get me atleast 250fsb on 3.2V

Max3's vtt is not fixed on new boards. Vdimm fluctuations are fixed, 2.9-3.2 are still not usable voltages.

i'd go for the first option, although keep in mind starting the M1 with an IC7 will be a pain, only usable way is with 2 PSU's

but i like the lian-li cases so i'd still go for the first option

J0k3r3, Somebody figured out that CAS latency doesn't really matter on CW boards. Thats quite true but that doesn't mean timings dont' matter. RAS to CAS and RAS precharge make a huge difference on P4.

You'll get 250FSB easily w/ BH5 - not in 1:1 mod thou. But even in 5:4 mode its faster than 3-4-4-8 RAM at 1:1.

I've never run w/ slow timings :D
And 4.1 1:1 2-2-2-5 would beat 4.3G 1:1 3-4-4-8.

not quite. i only need to boot once for my entire life (unless i have a power outage or have to move). i will be running my system 24/7 so i never have to shut down meaning i never have to rely on my mach1 to boot up my mobo. i will prolly have to restart once a week or somethign - not sure how you guys do it (wait how often should i restart?) wont even need dual psus. ill just boot up the system togehtor and will let it sit in bios wait until mk1 gets cold and will proceed to installign windows

i cant bear the ugliness of the stock nventiv cases and the r502 mod will do nicely :)

which ram should i get though...need something that is compatible with the max3 and 3.2V is the max im going to use

macci how much do you think i can get out of it with a r502 mk1 i amassuming temps would be like ~-35C loaded (the real temps read by bios) since kunakks modded mk1 does -48C idle in his FX-51 w/ 1.9vcore on the sk8v



if you guys knew how cheap i was getting this cpu (brand new factory sealed) you would hit your head against the wall :D

should i go with the khx3200 bh-5 then or the mushkin 3200 bh-6?

p4 3.2ee@4.1~4.2>= to a64 @2.7 right
