The other day I kiled a stick of GEIL PC3700 Ultra Plat... by crushing a resistor taking the HS off, oopss.
Upon closer examination I saw there was a "paint" on the modules... hmmmm...
So i scraped the paint off and "VOILA" !!!!!!!!!!!
I found some strange module inside :D
it reads

GOLD
8LC32M08TG6

Looks like GEIL was speed binning SOMEONES (???) 6nS chips and repainting, errrr... rebadging them GL3LC32G88TG-5A

Anyone know what a "gold" module is??

that is so like horny to do something like this. But what can I say, my horny PC4300 does DDR588 so i dont care what modules it has.

If its like the small brown object in the upper left of that pic you can just replace it, charlie.

another one of similar size and color, and a soldering iron.

Even a larger one would be fine.

Looks like BH6/5 (see the two dots on the chip).

My Trancend PC2700 with 0348 BH-6's doesnt have those dots, its just got one dot in the lower left of the chip.

Cant remember if my XMS3202C2 1.1's have the two dots or not now...

More likely CH-5 chips than BH-5 or BH-6, because I havent heard GEIL using BH series chips in their sticks

I heard something about some Geil Ultra Platinum PC3500 carried BH-5?

:slobber: you could eat it, it is not bh5 but you might get superpowers

my friend have 1 year old Geil 3500 Ultra Plat who made 230 @ 2/2/2/5 @ 2.8v....probably BH-5 or CH-5

I didn't know geil used winbond chips, why did they use those on the ultra plat pc3700 and say they had 7-3-3-2.5 timings?

Mine were notoriously bad with 2-2-2-5...
They liked 2-3-2-5 up to about 237 @ 2.8V
On a 845PE board they hit 250 @ 2.5-3-3-7

STEvil and Vlad Draculea are right, Charlie. Just replace it with a similar element and chances are it will work like a charm!

And from the way your memory doesn't like the "2" timing, I would say that this is a Winbond chip like my KHX3500 has..
