The latest deal at Frys was for a 2500+ and an ECS K7VTA3 for $79.00. Really did not need the MB or chip for that matter, but sometimes I get lucky with the steppings from Fry's.

Today's chip was:

2500 Barton
AXDA2500DKV4D
IQYFA0343.

I'm guessing this chip will do 2.5G (max) stable. This chip is locked, yes? at 11?

Anyone care to guess what I'd get from this stepping using my NF-7 s? I'm thinking I'm going to return this "deal" and see what they have next week, unless I have an unknown gem here (I don't think I do....). The easy return is why I try chips from Frys occasionally. Methinks there is a mobile Barton out there 4me...

You don't know what you get until they hand you the chip at the register at Frys...

Opinions please? Thanks!

Week 43 = locked = bummer.

I'd try it, but I know that my current max FSB of 220 will leave me wanting...it still will not touch my XP1800 at almost 2.7G.

It could be close with the extra cache I think, but I doubt overall performance would surpass my 1800 becasue the multiplier is locked. Right?

locked barties are no fun. I have one that will do 11*227 at 1.875 v prime stable over night, but the max I can bench at is 233*11 since my ram/board wont do any more
This locked chip is the best one I have had, out of 5 bartons.

Ok,

In the last hour I installed and replaced the Barton.

It did not even post for me, and a Bridge Mod may be nescessary. So back to Fry's it goes.

So I popped back in my1800 and it is back to folding at 2.6.

I'll keep an eye out for an unlocked mobile proc...
