Didn't a few guys try it on release and then nobody ever touched it again? Doesn't sound too good.:(

I personally have the ABIT KV8-MAX3 in my arsenal. It's a great board but cannot run the high FSB that I strive for that the Shuttle nForce 3 can.

Doesn't sound too bad I suppose, but high FSB's could be a problem apparently.

Hey I am still using mine :)

At mid range clocks it is ok, say up to 250Mhz , I managed to run it at 9.5x256 but the UGURU chip in my case does not like clockgen so it a bt hit and miss.

At 240x10 I would say it is faster than an nforce3 board at 240x10, though of course there is far more chance on getting 300x8 on the nforce3 board.

If you don't have the RAM or are aircoling then the Abit is a good prospect for 240x10 1:1 2-5-2-2 benching ( 51s pifast tim ).

Thanks for the input guys..i have been searching forums and it does look like the board has issues. We are struggling a little getting it to run ok with some modules..these same modules work fine on all other boards. This doesn't mean the board won't boot, it just means they don't clock as well.

I have a feeling we may be able to just let this board slip by as it isn't to popular..

Thanks

oh well at least 512MB stick of OCZ PC3500 Platinum LE works on AN50R but only up to 225mhz 2-2-2-6 at 2.9v then again same max 225mhz at 2-3-2-6 at 2.9v so could be the cpu limit even though lowering the multiplier managed an unstable 230mhz 2-3-2-6 at 2.9v

just put a note in the decription of the memory that there are known problems ocing this memory on the KV8 max3...

I can imagine that, when I use 1 RAM chip 240+ is fine, when I use two then 3dmark craps out at 209.

Weird.

Yeah, let it slip by and see if Abit nforce 250 or VIA Pro is better, this is a dead end board now.

Actually, I think very good of this board... it got it all, except agp/pci lock ofcourse.. Im running stable at fsb 245 with vcore 1.75, and my lovely corsair ram at 1:1
I can't got any higher atm because my hdd cracks out, buying a IDE controller soon... But, also got another problem then, ive heard that the 9800pro cards aint too happy about +80mhz.. is that right? Would be sucky to go out an buy a nVidia card instead, just because I want a higher oc.
