View Full Version : Where should I be...9800pro & 2600+

Hey guys,
Another age old question. I just installed my Saphire atlantis 9800pro with the 4.1cats and I'm hitting about 15,5K in 3d01. Stock cpu speeds, max ram timings and video card o/c some (sorry don't remember speeds).
Does this sound about right or should it be higher?

What clocks on the 9800?
It should probably be a bit higher, but it also depends on the ram timings and other things.
BTW, where at in NW Ohio are you?

Numbers are a bit low, my 2500+ and 9700P comes close to that.

Sandman,
I don't remember exact clocks.. maybe 430/325? They might be high.
Ram timings are maxed and 3d01 was set to realtime.
BTW: Montpelier, Ohio... 1hr west of Toledo and 1hr east of Ft.Wayne, IN.

I'm by napoleon, in a little town called Liberty Center.
those clocks seems pretty low for a max overclock of a 9800.

Sandman,
Yea I don't know if those clocks are accurate or not. This is all on stock cooling so I wasn't pushing it or anything.
OT: I know where LC is.. we played them in sports. Next time we have a lan party I'll hit you up if your interested.

If you aren't doing anything, could you give us a run at stock or at clocks that you know what they are.
It's hard to guage where you should be without knowing the clocks, and YGPM.

sandman,
I'll pm you with more info on the next lan, right now we are developing a module for Neverwinter Nights.
But anyway, I just ran 3D01 and hit 15,877 with FSB set to 171 max timings, 3dmark set to realtime and a video card o/c of 432/360.
I think this card might have some potental but.. i need to strap on my w/c gear and get serious.

That fsb is hurting you the most right now, if you could get it up somewhere in the 220mhz range it would help quite a bit.

Sandman,
Yea.. I only wish i could get it up there. I have a crappy rev 1.2 NF7 it barley does 190fsb on a 10x multi.

we need a compare link more, so we can see on a similar system where your points are lacking

Stang_Man,
Ok.. I"m gonna re-run it and see if I can hit the same marks.

wes, they look pretty good, spot on for those clocks :)

I'd say CPU/FSB is holding you back the most there...With my 9700pro, I did 18,xxx @ 217x11.5, 393/330...2-3-2-6 timings. Granted that was with my Texture settings and everything maxed, execpt no AA and such.

Thanks guys :D
Does Dual Channel make a diffrence, b/c I'm only running one stick of XMS PC-3200 pro. ;)
I'm gonna give 10x190FSB a go tonight. :D

im running 221x12.5 and stock 9800p i get a lil over 19k you need to increase that fsb:)

how much voltage should i give my cpu wen im running 220x10?
tennvols_69
02-19-2004, 03:12 PM
it depends on the cpu im running 1.95vcore to get my clocks.

Hmm, I get lower scores at 9x200.
But at 11.5x180 i get this : http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=7577338
With NO o/c on the video card!

I don't think you looked at his specs.

Yea lol... I really have no FSB. This rev1.2 NF7-S A2 stepping is crapping out around 190FSB. I have a rev2.0 comming so hopefully i'll be able to go a lil bit higher. I also just bought a barton 2500+ too (used, unlocked).
I should be able to get 17-18K with this rev2.0 and then with water and more clocks on the card.. maybe 19k.

Car chase is where you're hurting the most, see if you can get more total cpu mhz.

I'll see what I can do tonight, open the windows and bump up the multi and let er rip.
BTW: Sandman... u goto college or hs?
WesM63
02-24-2004, 04:59 PM
Well thats a bummer. :( I'm setting at 12.5x170FSB and it get 3/4 the way thru 3dmark and crashes out. Guess this chip just can't take anymore..

High School.
that sucks, well, it's a good gaming rig at any rate. :D

Yea, I have a Rev2.0 NF7-S and a Barton 2500+ coming so hopefully they help. (Might buy one them mobile 2400+'s too)
High School was cool, now I goto Northwest state community college full-time (14credit hours) and work 40+hrs a week at Data Eclipse in bryan.

maybe u didnt?
xp2600 +9800p...
10x220
460/280 or so = 19k
u dont need water on the gpu, any crappy old athlonXP , p4 cooler will work great! if u dont feel liek drilling, a vga silencer from arctic cooling will do, good enough for 470/390 on all of my 9800p's.
and for the cpu, a vantec aeroflow kept my 2500 @ 10x230 plenty cool for gaming 4hours at a time.
cpu 2300mhz @1.87
ram 230 @ whatever u need
stock voltage on card with a better cooler, u can do it man =) i have fiath in u

benonmsn,
See the problem was my Rev1.2 NF7-S wouldn't do over 190FSB.
I installed the rev2.0 last night and its chugging along at 10.5x210, but I don't think the chip will be able to take much more.
I'll try the 2500+ when i get it this weekend.

well i did over 20k with 10 multi.. i think like 230fsb.. mine hated 10.5 and 11.. even 11 multi at 200fsb it would crap out..
r3b0rN
03-02-2004, 11:42 PM
seems strange a motherboard that can run 3200's (which have 200fsb) cant get ur cpu running at 200... i blame it on ur cpu :D anwyays good luck with ur rev2.0, man get a mobile 2800+ if u can afford it..
WesM63
03-03-2004, 04:13 AM
After the rev2.0 install I managed to do 9.5x225fsb. That was about max.
Or 12x190FSB, but the chip was pretty unstable. Need a new chip.
