Was I cheating?

Someone over at Futuremark said I was cheating when I forced the 4403 Dets to work with my 5700 Ultra. What is your opinions on this? I know that Opp forced the 3.1 Cats to work with a 9800XT, so are we cheaters. Somehow, I don't think so. Of course, the same guy was using Omegas for his benches, which are are rewritten for quality or performance, at least all I did was use older drivers for a newer card. So again, opinions please.
I worked hard for my #3 spot with 5700 Ultras, only behind 64 bit machines with my lowly 3.4GHz P4.

nope its not cheating... if u ask me if anythings cheating its setting lod bias to like 5+, but even i do that.

Hmm, i could install it for my FX5900 without a hickup.

Is that because the 5900 is older?

To me this has nothing to do with cheating, just tweaking or finetuning. ;)

yep 5900 was released quite a few months before the 5700, the 5950 was released with the 5700 however.

I had a similar problem with the 5600U card, with this though 44.03 drivers work naturally and then someone compared nature for 5600U with 44.03 and said it was bugged as they compared to my 5700U nature with 52.16 which was a lot less

SPQQY you can actually get 52.16 higher in total than 44.03 due to 52.16 giving better performance in car and drag and also letting your card clock higher.

This is too funny, the same person who accused me of cheating after falsely accusing me of having a nature bug is the same person who is accusing SPQQKY ?! :)

In his diatribe against SPQQKY he says

In 5700U I got my own personal high score with 44.03

I then beat it with 52.16 so deleted 44.03.

He then kicked up a fuss about my 5600U 44.03 score and got it deleted by Futuremark :rolleyes:

I reinstated it and to show it was not a bug but the 44.03 driver repusblished my 5700U score to show him it was the driver

I sent him a post ( see above ) and trhought he had disappeared up his own ass

I then removed my 44.03 score so as not to clutter up the top of the 5700U table as it was not P4/AMD split

He now says I now removed it because he pointed it out :(

Zakelwe, I ran the 5216's and they didn't even come close to the 4403's. Yup, SSV is the guy and he is a total Butt Cowboy. I told a guy his scored sucked with his 5700 Ultra and dropped him a PM to help him out, but SSV got all up in arms and accused me of cheating. I have been corresponding with the guy through PMs and e-mails to help him, of course SSV is oblivious to this and continued to bash me. I am sure he has contacted FM to get my score cut. We will see how long my score remains on the Orb.

He was talking on the FM forum that he knew who this killerroy "fakescore" was and said that this guy is even a mod in 2 forums.

He also explained how he did it and then went on to say how great it was!

His explanation was that everyone could cheat with it's score and just because his score was so obvious fake, he made a point.

I see you have created a one man vendetta squad against you and 44.03 drivers now that he has given up with me. I bet he has a fit looking at the first page of the 5600U scores as everyone uses 44.03.

I think it is just you SPQQKY, really he has a thing about people with QQ in their name but just can't bring himself to admit it :D

Well, I will continue benching the way I see fit and if I need the 4403's to break 20k, then so be it. I think it will take new, hardware now, not drivers or software tweaks.

Its not cheating if you take the time to tweak your hardware to the best of your ability.

We may as well call everyone here and the top 20 on futuremark cheaters since we all overclock our systems.

I mean come now, whats the difference from using one driver over another when we arent running stock anything to begin with.

Kinda like saying if you use BH5 to get higher clocks than someone else because they have generic ram. Not your fault you know what your are doing.

That's only for 3DMark2003 and you don't have to use them, they just catagorize them.
