ok dont blame me on my question but...

i have an old ati rage 128 gpu and i though i can use this powerful
baby on my nforce 2 board but its does not fit in the agp port...

well i though these ports are down compatible?
is there a way to use this old card on a new mobo?

Don't think so.

These newer AGP8X boards that are "meant" to be "universal" aren't.

I assume your card is an AGP2X or AGP1X? If it's that then it won't do. Need newer APG4X board or PCI to work.

Suc*s, I know....Guess it's the manufacturers way of"forcing" you to upgrade...

Had to get my 9800XT for my 2nd rig fixed (I farked it) & tried to use an ATI Rage 8mb AGP1x/2x on my Max3...

Wouldn't work & only had an 8mb PCI p.o.s that would hang my rig up once windows sarted loading....

My 9800pro is all rigged up in a WC setup (sig) so couldn't be bothered....

I know how you feel...

At least my 9800XT could be fixable (PHEW!!)...

isn't there a problem with voltages? Like hte first version version of agp were using 3.3V and know it requires 1.5V (or the other way around)?

Exactly right, early AGP cards were indeed 3.3 volts, some old cards will fit in modern agp slots and happily screw up the hardware.
