I'm going to build a dry ice container. What would the best thickness for the cold plate or bottom plate be? I was thinking like maybe 7/16? Any help appreciated.

How ya been Todd?
I haven't tried D.I. yet but it would seem
that 3/8" would be about right.
Tell ya what.... shoot Kunaak or Charlie a
PM as those guys have been there.
Take Care.
P.S. I've read a couple of different real decent
Threads concerning D.I. in the Vapor Phase
Change Cooling forum.
2700+ is still kickin'

Hey Pops. Thanks for the reply :)
I've been looking around but unfortunately,
The search term you specified (ice) is under the minimum word length (4) and therefore will not be found. Please make this term longer
Is hampering my searching abilities.

How about a bottle of CO2 and one of those
dry ice bags/kits?
Dry ice can be fun and dangerous at the same time.

Nice cheap way to see if it's worth it on spending Prommy Money.
Of if you want to be a 3dmark hero for cheap.
i've got an ice store 5 mintutes down the street. 10lbs usually costs me $5 but they guy just fills the cooler up and i usually end up with 14lbs. I never use it all before it disappears.
I used a 3/8th plate because thats what i had.
Soldering's easy on copper.

Tedinde, do you have any pics of your DI container?

Hmmm... One 10/16 and one 6/16. Might go right in the middle with a 1/2" plate. Thanks!

5/8 is better for LN2, 1/2 better for DI. With a thinner plate you'll have base temps of ?? maybe -25C with liquid boiling at -65C inside....a thicker plate will not get AS cold, but will hold the cold better! A thinner plate will get REALLL cold like at idle, but won't HOLD heat.
