View Full Version : Very confused bout this bh-5 thing. Help me out
Guys all this reading about bh-5 chips has screwed up my brain.
I dunno what i'm looking for anymore. Basically i know that anywhere i look, they aint gonna say bh-5. So im looking for ram timings of some sort and to see if they are 5.4ns right?
I need help with this.
Ive seen kingston quote their sticks like this
333MHz (PC2700) 2-2-2-5-1 (CAS Latency 2)
370MHz (PC3000) 2-2-2-6-1 (CAS Latency 2)
400MHz (PC3200) 2-3-2-6-1 (CAS Latency 2)
434MHz (PC3500) 2-3-3-7-1 (CAS Latency 2)
Now does that mean if i purchase pc3500 ram its not gonna be bh-5? Does it have to be able to do 2-2-2-6 at 434mhz?
Then i have another site, tekheads.co.uk that quote their corsair pc3200 doin 2-2-2-6 but dunno if i can really trust it.
Some in depth info would help so i can make a purchase
I checked out the sticky. But it jus confused me.

you can still find some KHXPC3500 BH5(older ones) but theyre very very rare.
When on some sites its saying 2-2-2-x it meen they pre-test the RAMs at those speed

Find KHX3200/256 or 512 (not KHX3200A/256/512), that's guaranteed BH-5. With KHX3500 you you can't tell what it is, most is CH-5 though.
What ive found is kingston from dabs.com. They say its rated at 2-2-2 but when u read the description they've got. The volts it take are 2.6v and its 4.6ns . Now i dunno what that means. Cause the kingston site says the pc3500 now runs at 2-3-3-7 and 2.6v.
So its really hard to tell. The kingston pc3000 is bh-5 im sure of that. But dunno if thats really gonna hit the fsb's im lookin for. Im gettin a mobile chip that can do 300 on 1:1 off ebay hopefully. So need some decent ram.

KINGSTON PC3000 isnt always %100 BH5, you could end up with something else like CH5. its really a luck of the draw with PC3000. thats what ive been hearing, anyways
So what are the pc3200 kingstons rated at. 2.5 or 2.6v? and the ns.

They all do 2-2-2-6-1, most have BH-6 or 5, a very few of the old ones has Samsung chips.

There's a big chance to hit 250MHz, but you may need very high voltage.

Should see at least 230+. I can post at 240, but crashes in about a minute... I think its the northbridge as my timings didnt affect whether it crashed or not.
I am at 235 2-2-2-5-1T right now, 3.1v..
Grabs me 3497/3225 sisoft with seti@home, couple web browsers, foobar, and email going.
I guess running these sticks for nearly a year at 200mhz 2-2-2-5/6/11 3.15v+ has burned them in... ;)
My local computer shop sells corsair ram. Seems they stock twinx xms3200. Looks like the platinum edition from the silver heatspreaders.
how am i gonna know if they are v1.1?

ask them to look at the sticks of ram, outside the package, then look on the white sticker thatts on the heatspredersand it will say v1.1 or v1.2

Look in the top right of the reflective sticker on the heatspreader.
Ive got a guy here offering me 2x512mb corsair twinx xms pc3200 LLPT v1.1. He is sayin that they only do 204fsb on his asus board and a barton 2500+ at 2.8v. But dunno if thats cause his chip is bad or what.
Do you thinks its worthin gettin them to see what they work out as? I mean they gonna be on an asus p4c800-e deluxe which i aint volt moddin yet. So its only gonna get 2.85v
Do you think that he speaks the truth bout the ram only doin 204. Maybe he dont know how to OC

Buy the sticks. The FSB 204 must be due to his board. My 3200ll with bh5 made FSB 230 @ 2-2-2-5 with 2,8 V.
Ive found some xms3500 on the net. Somehow i dunno.
What im hearing from another thread is all xms3500c2 is bh-5. Ok so they aint platinum but still. What you think?
I feel kinda hyper actually having found 2 places who still have them in stock. Or so the site says.

The provinces of Alberta and BC in Canada have a bunch in stock, too, if you look around.
Im from scotland man. So was having a hard time finding stuff. I found out tekheads.co.uk stock 256mb xms3500 c2 platinum
And chillblast.com stock the 512mb xms3500c2 non platinum. I went for the second one. Bought two sticks.
Thanks for the help. Hopefully i'll get what im lookin for.

And if you are not sure: Unmount the heatspreader with a small screwdriver and have a look. :)
