alright.... i dragged my friend to help me mount this amd 3200+ stock heatsink onto my sorry ass 9800 pro.... you would think i can benefit from some of these cooling and oc more, but......

i only gained close to 20mhz on the core and NONE on the memory (even w/ ramsinks). at the moment, my highest clock speed on this 9800 pro is 433/371 (am i too greedy? or this is a good oc already?)

here is the video card sitting nicely in the agp slot...

and here is an overall top view....

i don't think the agp voltage help out anything for the OC, is there any other mod can be done at this? (have to be easy mod)
btw, i am only setting the agp voltage at 1.6 (too low or too high?)

thx guys!

I replaced my cooling on my R9800p and added ramsinks. I'm at 443/371.

Sadly, that's the only way you'll be able to get more out of it. Nice job on the mod though :)

I wouldn't say 20 MHz increase is bad, but it seems like you haven't been very lucky with your card. It's not very bad, but good cards do 430-450 with stock cooling.

An easy "mod" you can try is to flash to XT-bios, this can get the memory on the card higher since it gets higher voltage, it will also give increased performance in some games.

I would suggest trying the core vmod as it is not too difficult or dangerous if your thorough (and not using a iron hot enough to desolder that resistor :)). The point at which you have to solder onto is relatively large as vmods go and there are convenient grounds located nearby (or elsewhere as you please). Also I wouldn't flash the xt bios if you don't want to risk your card... unless you have the 256 mb version of the 9800 pro you shouldn't flash the xt bios.

really a ugly overclocker mine was 460 out of box without any artifacts 465 artifacts starts but still benchable with artic cooling 475 with water 500 and when added it vmods 533 :)

You can flash with a modded 128MB bios. And if you have a PCI-card it's no problem to flash back.

But do the vmods, if you're scared you can practice on some old hardware you have. :)
