I have just finished installing my new intel p4 3.2EE stock speed, overclocked the 9800pro to 430/364 on stock cooling, did the 3dmark 2001SE and got this:

G|-|oST

I just saw somebodys Barton at 2.55GHz and slightly higher card clocks hit 214xx marks, I thought and EE would be higher. Hmmm.

well its at stock speed, and his vid card aint great..so... =)

a 3.2ee and 9800 pro, should be atleast 23k, easy money

Soulburner
02-06-2004, 01:53 PM
Yes it should....as my 2.4c and 5900 is at 20.2k and there is another 100-200 points left...

Now considering I don't have 2mb L3 cache, and I have an FX5900, your score should be an EASY 1k points higher...mine was only at 3360mhz too...

You need to do some tweaking...

low score, my 2.4 @ 3.4, and 9700P @ 411/355 make 20,106...

Arkangyl
02-06-2004, 02:11 PM
my 2500+ @ 2.5ghz (220fsb) and Radeon 9800 Pro (128mb) @ 460 /790 with a tweaked out system equal a P4EE and Oc'ed 9800 Pro..

lol...

you should get 23 to 25k once you OC that proc... IMO the EE's should be unlocked for the same reasons that the AMD FX line is... 300fsb and 3.6ghz with the xtra chache...

what are u cooling the gpu with? i think you could do some good things with that system totally oc'ed :)

JIDSTER

I am using stock cooling on hercules 9800pro

r3b0rN
02-06-2004, 06:50 PM
maybe you should make custom cooling with a copper cpu hsf?

JIDSTER
02-06-2004, 06:53 PM
I will be using vapochill XE unit on the gpu just got to make the mounting kit

r3b0rN
02-06-2004, 06:55 PM
nice :) that'll give u alot more overclocking room.

JIDSTER
02-06-2004, 06:57 PM
how much do you think I will get in 3d mark2001se

23k~25k

I'm not an expert, but i got 23k with my P4C 3GHz + P4P800 + R9800XT with air cooling (http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=7515125).

So, I hope you can get it a lot with your great rig :slobber:

Keep it up 'n good luck!

greetings:D

With 500 core, probably 25k.

With 550 core, 26-27k.

At P4C at 3.8Ghz and a 550/400 9800P will score 25k, so you should be ~2000 marks ahead of that at the same specs.

good luck benching, get the vapochill on there already :)

PS - Make sure you are using this combo for best results:

WinXP + DX8.1 + CAT 3.2

Fresh install is ideal, i've noticed I can lose 100-200 points just after installing a few things.

I will be mounting the 9800pro without vmods just to see how much I get once I do that get the 9800xt vmod it and get the max aiming for 28k

i really want a EE...

is there gonna be an athlon fx at 3700 speeds? im thinking i might get a job and start saving... they'll come out at like $1,400 in australia..

EDIT: nice oc on that p4c dpa :)

Overclocked my system to 4.1GHz rock solid and vid still at 440/364:

02-07-2004, 06:25 PM
congrats! nice oc, with that cpu clock speed and with the vapochill on the gpu you should hit 25k easy.

The score seems low... Have you done a clean install? If not thats probadly whats holding you down, those speeds should ~1k points higher...

r3b0rN
02-08-2004, 02:16 AM
im pretty sure he hasnt done a fresh install, think hes gonna wait until everything is setup and working well (the vapochill to go onto the gpu)

I finished installing my Vapo XE to my 9800pro and double checked for a good contact, the highest I got with stock cooling was 460-380, with Vapo installed and a fresh windows install I can't go higher then 460-380, so I checked again if the contact of evpo to the gpu core and it was a good clean contact, is this the highest the card can go without any mods done?

just vmod this bastard, you will be suprised how much it helps.

I thinking to get a Hercules 3D Prophet 9800XT 256MB and get it vmodded, or should i get it my Hercules 3D Prophet 9800 Pro 128MB vmodded?

Phyrox
02-26-2004, 05:52 PM
I think the best to get would be a ATI Radeon 9800XT. These overclock better than the Hercules and get it vmodded! With this kind of cpu power and gpu cooling you have you wont have any problems getting on the first page of orb if you do this right...

I think it would be pointless to get a 1.8v default card to vmod, may as well save a LOT of money and vmod a 1.7v default Pro instead.

I don't believe the clocks are any different. Especially considering we have seen a Pro at 660 core.

02-26-2004, 06:31 PM
Well depends at what your running them. There is actually a pretty big point difference between the 9800Pro and XT -- up to 1k forgot at what speed though. I amy be wrong but the XT is a better investment anyways.

Only in 3DMark03.

I have not seen a difference between Pro and XT at the same clocks in 3DMark2001 yet...unless someone can show me?

I'll be getting a 9800 Pro in a week or so, so I could test it out as well.

Yes but in 04 the xt will make all the difference

What exactly is it that makes it faster in these applications?

Did ATI change something and not tell us?

I think it could be just in the driver as well, in an optimization that will only enable itself when an XT card is used.

I don't know.

out of curiosity, looks like you're using the stock passive HS on northbridge, what temps does it give under load?

JIDSTER
03-17-2004, 03:02 PM
So far it is stock cooled in the coming weeks the northbridge will be vapochilled haven't checked the temps yet

pre done? or just the parts for them?

www.over-clock.com can supply the correct resistors etc.

they also have a huge list of guides on the guides section of the forum. hope this helps

I have finished my vmodding for my card and everything thank god went well no problems, I have been benching for about 2 days straight and finally reached the maximum for the card 520/410.

Very nice score. A little tighter on your mem timmings will put you over 26K easy. Also the XT is about 100-200 points higher clock for clock. Not much but it does help.
