I was wondering if chipset cooling is actually worth breaking ur bank for. i had a Z-chip on it b4 (still have the block) but since i got my prommie, its been on stock.

I will have my GPU WC setup workin in a few weeks, but think the chipset will hinder GPU cooling (or not really?)

which chipset aircooling block is best? ...that swiftech 1 [Review here: LINKY (http://www.dvhardware.net/review61_SwiftechMCX159.html) ]? and will it actually help increase performance? cuz those chipsets get DAMN hot. mine hit almost 70C (reading from the stock heatsink!) dunno if dats normal

I've noticed with the MachI and II that the higher voltages and OC you run, the more important NB cooling becomes. Consider that you no longer have the residual air circulation you had from the cpu fan for one thing. I did a review of the Swiftech and the Microcool Northpole, but the OC was a rather modest one at the time. For Xtreme overclocking I see a much more significant difference in temps. I have since started using an active cooler on the NB and passive sinks on the SB and PLLs and Mosfetts for the most aggressive clocks. At the very least I see an increase in stability.

Man, I love that Thompson quote :)

Don't under estimate the heat put off your mobo at high over clocks. NB, SB, PLLs amd Mosfetts all can get very hot. Check out some thermal images....keep in mind these pics don't seem to be at High OC, most are stock.

Adding a nb waterblock won't put much stress on your water loop since it's just GPU / NB. Any decent radiator & fan combo will handle the heat put out by it without problems, and your GPU overclock probably won't suffer at all.

And as TheDude said, don't forget the mosfetts, sb, etc. Having air blowing onto your motherboard helps a lot, and that's going to be gone with a prommie setup unless you have a side panel fan blowing onto your mobo.

well i've taken all ur advice. and didn't sell my z-chip waterblok. its been a while but my WC circuit will be up soon. got everything, just need my mcw50-t (mon-tues, i hope).

i got a small heatsink+fan on my SB, but i had to take the fan off so my audigy2 cud fit, since my pump is on the bottom of my case. my NB will have the z-chip and my soundcard also has a fan+sink ;) ...dunno wot to put on the mosfets tho. i will leave the door off when OC'ing :D until i find a remedie.
