9600 heatsink mount

I just got a 9600 pro. Since it doesn't have a shim like the 9700/9800 do you think it would be safe to cover the entire core with artic alumina epoxy?

i use artic alumina epoxy and i tye the heatsink down with wire to help hold it on.
