ok heres the story of tghe Xp1700.
I saw Jc got 3 ghz from his Xp2100.
I wanted 3 ghz, simply cause it was such a monolithic goal.
so I bought 1 Xp2100 after another and kept working like mad for 3 ghz with a Xp 2100.
13 Xp 2100's and 6 weeks later, I finally did it with a plain old prometeia, and a "old" a 0250, when everyone wanted the 03's.
I was happy, stoked and amazed.
I finally got my 3 ghz.
unstable, but I didn't care one bit.
it was a goal, and all I wanted to see was a 3 ghz CPU I did.
by then, JC was doing 3.11 ghz stable enough to pass PCmark and a few other things.
I needed a new CPU.
JC offerd to sell me his.
I said hell yeah, and took it and had a ton of fun with it for like 4 months, and I put that CPU through hell, almost killing it a few times, but it always lived.
it lived my dry ice bomb, my no contact prometeia problem, my 2 volts on air OC's, my 3.2 ghz near death dry ice fun.
then the P4 "C"'s started coming out.
my little Xp 1700 wasn't holding up well cause I couldn't get a good board again, like my old 8RDA...
so I tried a P4.
right about then, Bowman needed a CPU, and a damn good one.
I know he's an AMD guy basically, so I say "wanna borrow it"
he says no cause he doesn't want to kill my hardware.
then it happens.
that little inkling in your gut, that theres a good CPU waiting for you.
then I get a little PM saying hes interested in borrowing it ;)
so I sent it on over to him, and in usual "bowman" fashion, he starts kicking ass and taking names with the Xp1700.
see, bowmans sneaky like that.
he sits back for like 3-4 months, and just makes his mad scientist stuff, and helps everyone until every thinks he just makes phase change stuff.
then he just busts out the super hardware, does some damage everywhere, then silently sneaks back to his lair for more mad scientist work.
thats what hes doing now it looks like.
just hibernating-waiting.
thats the history of the Xp1700 that wouldn't die.

Great reading, you ought to be a writer, ha.
I think I have a great 1700+ on hand but haven't been able to give it -0c temps yet. I took a screenie of it at 2.775 ghz with ice in my resevoir. I can get a screenie at nearly 2.7ghz with ambient temp running 2.0v.

you put 1 awesome cpu with 1 very Xtreme overclocker like bowman, and this is the result :D
