What size kb chunk for RAID 0 w/the HDD's listed below. I used to use 32k chunk size w/2 Maxtor 20g 7200rpm 2m buffers in RAID 0. But, I'm thinking I need to use a larger kb chunk size w/the larger buffer size. Am I way off in thinking this ? Also, noticed in AIDA32. It's showing I'm in ATA100 mode, instead of ATA150. Is Aida not reading it correctly ? I hope it's not. Any help would be appreciated. :)

My SCSI use 16kb blocks. I found this was the fastest.
16kb are good for games and lots of small fiiles. 32kb+ video editing large file manipulation.

how are you changing cluster size? I was trying 32k for benching, and made the chg with partition magic 8.0. got to 99% and errored out, had to FFR. XP pro by the way. would like to find a reliable way of changing..

A while ago I reformatted and reinstalled several times trying out different stripe and cluster sizes, but this was on 2 IBM deskstar 2mb cache drives in RAID 0. I found it didn't matter a whole lot, unless you started to get to the extremes.
Now I use 2 WD 8mb cache drives in RAID 0 with 32kb stripe (I think) and 16kb clusters or around there abouts. depends on partition size too.
I think when I was benching 16kb stripes was fastest maybe? Sorry I don't really remember but it might not pertain to the faster drives of today anyhow.
I remember reading a good article about how cluster size should be 1/2 of stripe size (or maybe it was the other way around?) because when the data gets written in chunks, if it gets split in half for the RAID array then one data chunk can be written in 2 parts, on each drive in the array, or something like that.
