I need a decent 17" Flat CRT for my mom's system, hers died, maybe old age (used a lot for 4 years).
I was looking at this one on newegg:

Can you recommend anything better performance/price wise?

viewsonics are nice and to me thats a pretty good price on one. Id say a winner.

in my neighborhood, theres a compwarehouse, and i can get 17" Dell Trintrons for $39 there

Id say keep looking, that monitor would be 159 w/ ship, if you look around your area another 20 or 30$ would probably get a 19' flat CRT. I picked up a nice Samsung 19" trueflat @ a Sams club for 180$, and that was almost a year ago..
