View Full Version : Which 9800 Pro?
As I'm in the market for a new videocard, I decided to go with a 9800 Pro (who doesn't ;)).
I'm gonna vmod the card, but is there any card, that will overclock better than the rest, or are they all the same?
I'm thinking of getting a Powercolor 9800 Pro OEM 225$.
What do you think of that?
EDIT: Oh yeah, a friend of mine uses an "Anti static wrist band", when he's messing with his rig. Is this neccessary? Or can I just laugh at him?

by far the best 9800 i have come into contact with is a Hercules 3dprohet. The cheapest I found is $328 shipped at http://www.sybercom.com

I use one only when I'm messing with the CPU, cause the CPU is at times a really :banana::banana::banana::banana: to work with. I know for a fact I have 3 AMD paper weights on my desk because of my stupidity

I don't personally know but I've heard Powercolor is a bad brand. On a large-ish purchase I found its best to not go with the cheapest but somewhere in the middle.
As far as the Anti-static wristband, yeah laugh at that sissy.:D Just try not to work on carpet and keep in contact with an unpainted metal surface in the case.

well i just got a powercolor 9800pro from newegg today. I have no idea what memory it's using. the first two letters read HY, so maybe i'm assuming hynix? I really dont know how well those OC.

im confused with newegg right now, they sent me one powercolor 9800, which i have, but then i checked the status at newegg and it looks like another one is being sent out under the same invoice. step 4 of 5. tracking number uploaded at 6PM.
i better not get screwed on restocking fee, i have a feeling they charged me for two when i only ordered one.

well anyways. I think im having problems with the memory on this particular 9800. i can run 450+ on the gpu without any artifacts, no mods done. The memory however cannot go past 340 without weird things showing up. But I have a feeling that's something to do with my SFF sn85g4. Im saying this because i've used other cards with mem up to 380 in other computers, but once it goes in here, i have to drop the mem clock down.
