View Full Version : **voltage question needs quick answer**
I'm using the maxOC volt mod points for a ti4600 memory volt mod.

The only difference is that I'm using x2 1k VRs put together to make a 30 turn 2k VR. Now what is a safe resistance to start at?
My multi reads the 2 as 1.98, is that safe or should I turn it down? Any help is much appriciated.

Its a simtech chip and a simple resistor devider so you want to start at 2k and work your way down..
So plug in at 2k, then turn one VR down for more voltage.
Be carefull not to short anything on the card with your multimeter when measuring the voltage.. you may want to solder on wires for easy measurement as sylasfur has done in his pic (just be carefull not to let the wires short :P)
Ok, my meter reads it as 1.99 that's 2k right? and then just turn the knobs down to increase. I still have it on the stick cooler so I don't really know how much I'll get out of it, but thanks. I think I will put somethig better on it.

A decent cpu cooler would be nice there.
One thing I was wondering about those pics that might help you also, how come there are two wires for the measuring point?

qouting the mighty holst.
the wires make it easy to measure with less chance of slipping and creating a short between components with the probes.

I just didnt get why there are two for each measurement? I think most put there black probe just straight on a pci slot screw or whatever. So I didnt think it was for ground. You cant probe two spots so I didnt know if that was part of it.... to connect these spots and measure. Or alternately if they are both measuring points, and better to use both?
I mean if one were to just use a probe... what's the deal? I don't know what I'd even do with two wires looking at me with only two probes.
