Helping a friend to get his rig working again.
Motherboard and gfx completely dead.
Changed the motherboard and was just woundering if maybe the gfx can be repaired.
Any ideas...or just tell him to buy a new?
Take a look at the picture, you can see what is burnt out.

Can be fixed if you can find a component to replace it with... and as long as nothing else is dead.
PS, the cap with brown stuff coming out of it is also dead.
If you cant do this yourself you can send it to me and ill have a go, I dont suppose you know if thats the core or memory regulator do you? If its the memory then its more likely to be dead than if its the core.

Id also be looking VERY carefully at his PSU before you refit it, if its cheap ass crap id bin it and replace it without even testing.

Thank you for the fast answers!
Actually the whole thing started with he wanted to me to check out his dead rig.
When opening the case I saw a cheap crap PSU, 300W Codegen.
Instantly I checked if the PSU was working in my rig....nope...dead.
Swapped PSU and though it would fire up...nope.
Tried my gfx in his rig...didn´t fire up.
Swapped motherboard and memory, didn´t fire up until I changed to my gfx.
Then I saw the burnt out components on the gfx and realized that also the gfx is dead.
So the story is:
Dead PSU
Dead motherboard.
Dead gfx.
Can this be caused by the cheap PSU?
Took the motherboard and gfx with it when it gave up?
Holst, if you wan´t to try repairing the gfx you are welcome!
He have nothing to loose.
Don´t know what regulator it is, sorry.

Definitely could be the cause of a bad power supply.

Sounds like the cheap ass codejen PSU has died and taken out the rest of the system, probably fed AC down the 12v line or something..
If you cant repair it yourself, ill have a go, if I cant fix it I can post it on too faruquehabib if he wants the memory.
