I wouldn't say it's better myself.
I have owned both of these cards, and I still have a 9600XT.
I'd trade it in a second for a 9700 pro.

these 9600XTs max around 19k.
thats not much better then a ti 4200.

gaming wise it's definatly better then a ti4200.
but for it against a 9700 pro-I wouldn't say it is.

9700 hands down over any 9600.

9600XT doesn't even beat 9500 PRO (especially overclocked).

wow...didnt expect it to be that low of a performer, so i should go for a 9500pro over a 9600xt? my friend wants it to play galaxies, so what do u guys think?

I thought it was a substitute only to be kept if better than a 9700pro? I ask because 9700 is a no brainer but 9500pro vrs 9600xt is much closer. As a temporary thing it would be close enough to not matter. I guess what I'm saying is luck of the OC could end up declaring the best between 9600xt's and 9500 pro's. Guess I'd get a 9500 pro if I had to pick just don't know if it's worth the trouble digging one up.

Well i did some research, and the sapphire 9600xt and 9600pro are the same price at newegg.com. My friend wont be ocing the card so its going to stay stock.
So i guess it comes down to these two, the 9600pro being better than the 9500p and being at the same price of the xt i think its the winner, what do u guys think?
Thanks for the replies, you guys are the s**t!
