View Full Version : Very High Temps Normal? Mach II and Athlon64 2700mhz

Hi,

After ditching the KT800 board and getting a nice Shuttle NF3 board Ive got the A64 3200 upto 2700MHz (stable in 3dmark).

Voltage is 1.85v. The temps under load at stock are -6 (under full load remember). The temp under load at 2700/1.90v is +22 Celsius! Dropping the voltage decreases the temp by a massive amount (1.7v is around 3 under load).

Im considering lapping the A64 and increasing the pressure between the cooling head and cpu... but is it worth it? It appears the (unmodded) Mach II is hitting its limits!? :(

hmmm this doesnt sound right at all... the ihs could have popped off the core and is now making bad contact... check if the ihs is still on the core or if you can take it off.

To check if its on the core... wont I have to take it off anyhow? Whats a more normal temp for 2700, 1.9v ?

Did you try that MachII on another cpu? It's sounds like you have a low gas charge.

It was getting -8 under load at 3800MHz (20% more volt from stock) P4 about 1.5 months ago, which I would consider pretty good. The unloaded temps were -22 for the P4 and are -8 for the A64 at 1.75v.

the temp sensor is out of wack. i get similar temps. as long as your stable its all good :D

Are the temperatures completely missleading or is there a kind of offset (let's say it reads e.g. 10c too high)

I have ~14c under load 2700/1,8V with VapoXE
(which should be quiet correct I think)

sounds like bad contact (temp difference between stock and OC is too big)
