Don't have any actual experience with Geil, but I've heard many people have had problems with their products.
IMHO, they are a company to avoid.
yeah i bought a pair of geil pc4000 ultra platnium off a friend (2x512) for 200 bucks for my 2.4c/IC7 combo and i was able to run 265 @ 1:1 and 280 @ 5:4... i wound up selling the intel so i dont use them anymore. i did try them out in my amd rig just for §§§§s and gigles and was actualy able to run 250 at 6:6 dual chanel np at all. the timmings were awful but i think that goes without saying.... i wasnt that impressed with the Geil memory but they did run what they said they would run so i cant complain....

I haven't tried the Ultra series, but I just got some Golden Dragon PC4000 and I put it in my friends computer to test it, as i don't have one that will push it YET, and I am in the process of RMAing the RAM. I will let you know what the benchies are when i get a good set.

Stock 2.85V (without Vdimm mod) it would do 261FSB 1:1 @ 2.5 4 4 7. @ 3.05V they will do 270 1:1. The price is right and the performance is there for me. I think with 3.2 or 3.3V it would do even higher. Marvin, what voltage are you putting to them and what MB are you using?

now i am running at 257 1:1 at 2.8 vdimm.:D
well after playing around some more with these geil ultra platnium ddr500 sticks... i have been able to reach as high as 285 5:4 in my new amd 64 system. im going to play around some more with these things and see if i can break 300 with a little less multiplier action? i think there may be a use for these thing after all!!
peace perc,

That sounds about right. A small vdimm mod (up to 3.0 or so) will probably get you to around 270. If you really feel crazy pump a little more like 3.3 and see what they will do. I am now using OCZ PC4200 and the best they do @ 3.05V is 270 with the same timings as geil. I sold the geil to pay for the OCZ, so in conclusion I spent more for no performance increase :grr: I guess sometimes you win and sometimes you loose.
