as shows in my sig, that pc was cooled by aeroflow not so loud and easy to install. this mcx478-v was highly recommanded by a lot of people and review sites as well.... so i went ahead and bought one.

boy... was it a bad choice... it wasn't that easy just to mount and put the clips on but it require some spaces to clip the fan on and some force as well. (it will be fine for the people w/ removeable mobo tray)

w/ this heatsink, i can't even get 3.44 stable.... maybe b/c the fan i am using, it's a panaflo 67cfm 92mm model. this fan only have 45dba i think, which isn't very bad (probably as loud as the aeroflow's tmd fan) i know this heatsink might cool better w/ tornato fan, but this heatsink still perform very poorly in my opinion. anyway, just here to let out my anger about this expensive and junkie heatsink...... kind of late, and i just give up the whole thing and ready to go to sleep

Despite what reviewers and some users say, I didn't like it either (AMD version).
In fact, my SLK900A with a Mechatronics fan (80mm/53cfm/36db) performs 4c better than the Swifty with the same fan under the same conditions. With a Vantec Tornado 92mm at full speed (ouch!) the Swifty was barely ahead of my PAL8045 w/Mechatronics fan, also under the same conditions.

u might wanna try to put the fan sucking the air and not blowing cuz on my MCX 4000 blowing suck and well sucking the air out was a lot better

even in reviews it doesnt outperform the SP-94 which I believe is in the same price range.

yup i have 2x MCX478-V and the spring clip does need alot of force to clip in place on my AI7 and using 80x38mm delta 80cfm fan it's okay but not that great, but i'm use to using mcx4000 + 120x38mm delta 190cfm fan or 92x38mm delta 120cfm fans hehe

But i didn't buy MCX478-V for best performance but rather ease of mounting/unmounting without taking out the motherboard which it does serve it's purpose

but MCX478-V with 80cfm delta still allowed my 2.8C to reach it's max oc of 257fsb like with my mcx4000, SP-94, igloo 4300 and ax478 heatsinks so not bad

I have the AMD version, it's very easy to install (needs "no" power) and I'm satisfied with the temps (not that i have tested another highend heatsink i can compare with). With this i can OC my 2400+ about 100MHz higher than I could with my old Igloo copper/alu el-cheapo sink.

I wouldn't have bought it for full price, I got it 2nd hand pretty cheap. Gets my recomandations. :)

To be honest I'm not all that stoked about mine really either. While its loads better than the Spark 7....

I bought an Intel Stock copper sink for 5 bucks from Newegg. The one they ship with the 3.06HT chip. And its just as good as the 478-V with 80mm Tornado, at least in my rig.
