System 1: P4P800 mobo with P4 2.0A (400mhz type)
I overclock to 177FSB = 3.58GHZ and memory freq. is 221.0MHz (4:5 ratio). The performance mode is Enable according to CPU Z. Good Lord.... thanks :D

System 2: P4P800 mobo with P4 2.4C (800mhz type)
I overclock to 270FSB = 3.24GHZ and memory freq. is 216.0MHz (5:4 ratio). The performance mode is Disable according to CPU Z.  Why is that??

Is PAT making BIG difference in FPS or 3Dmark scores?

PAT is disabled after 200fsb. There is a way to hack PAT to run over 200fsb with full PAT but you then you can't use dividers. PAT is worth about 500 marks in 2k1.

ASW, you should install the same video card in both rigs and find out how the 3DMark scores compare (assuming the rigs are 3D stable). Would be interesting. That's a heck of an overclock on the 2.0A. Also check how the Sandra unbuffered memory bandwidth compares.

Like was said you only have PAT at 200fsb.

This is where the chipset is programed to work at any fsb with 533 and 400 mhz based cpu's. That is why you see the PAT mode "Enabled" in CpuZ.

When it comes to 800 mhz based cpu's, they had to shutoff PAT when you went above 200 fsb because of the latency problems. On your P4P800, you can get partial PAT if you put your Performance mode into Standard or Turbo and then have your "Memory Acceleration Mode" enabled, which is in Chipset setup. The difference between partial PAT and Full PAT is about 150 points using Sandra's synthetic bandwidth bench.

Isn't PAT enabled up until u change ur divider from 1:1 to another ratio?!

No, on ASUS 865PE, you ONLY HAVE PAT AT 200FSB.

Unless you do the "hack".

Thank soulburner..... I think I would go back to 3.33GHz (275FSB x 12) without PAT.

I just wonder this scenario:
What happen IF I modify P4 "800mhz" type processor pin BSEL1 to Low, and consequently this "800mhz" type become "400mhz" type of processor. I'm hoping the motherboard implement the PAT all the way to 300 FSB.

I guess you can drop a very thin wire between the two pin holes thereby shorting those two pins when you drop the processor, actually force the processor in.

If you do that trick you will lose the 5:4 ratio. This is only used with 667 and 800 strap.

At 400 strap you have options like 2:1, 1:1, and 3:4 or something, similar with 533 however with that one you don't have a ratio lower than 1.

you will lose 5:4(like soul said) but you will have 3:4. I think you should just stai like this, becoze you need 5:4 and you CANT put it back to normal

bro, looks like we have the exact same problem.
my 2.0a hits at 174fsb @3.48ghz w/ pat enable
then when i install a 2.4c i can get 272fsb stable and pat disabled.... and the 3dmark on the 2.4c setup sucked badly

which lead me to believe that stupid pat thingie does make some big deal

Anyone have a pic the P4 800 mhz pin layout?

EDIT: I found one....
