got a few questions for erybody. first off, i used to be an AMD man, but after seeing all these kickass OC's with Intels, its time to switch sides! so i'm a lil new to the whole Intel thing. i just bought a IC7 and am very pleased with its performance, but of course there comes a time when every man or woman hits that age, you know the one i'm talking about, overclockin! so i'm all set to rock and roll with this baby. i have a P4 2.6c ghz processor, and OCz EL 466 ram. btw, could anyone let me know if those are ch-5 or bh-5, or neither? i'm assuming they're ch-5 but thought i would ask anyway! so does this sound like a pritty decent set up? i'm guessing achieveing an OC to 4ghz is going to be damn near impossible, but if theres any tips or mods or tweaks or ANYTHING at all that would help me at least reach a decent OC, that would be very kind of you. :) oh and is there a certain BIOS that overclocks better then others? like is the 17 better then the 16 or 18 at OCing or achieveing good stability? thankz eryone!

First, like in AMD all depend on what your CPU. Your goal is pretty high but not impossible. You have to have a better cooling then that, and IC7(like most off 875P) is hitting a SOLID wall @ 300FSB in BIOS, so the 300+ have to be made in windows by clockgen.

And no your Chips are not CH5 or BH5. I dont remember what theyre called but theyre rated to 2.5-4-4-8 but can do 2.5-3-3-8

from whut i've been reading, the 2.6c was not the best choice for me to make overclocking wise?

2.6C is a good OCer, probably as good as 2.4C. People dont love it, coze it dosnt have any special steppings

OCZ PC3500EL has a rated timing of 2-3-3-7. I had some. And they are not BH-5.

thankz for the info erybody! hey, i aint got school for the next two days so i figure why not spend it all on makin this a kikkass system! well, i know my cooling isn't the best and all, but all that aside, anyone have somes links to mods for this board? and has anyone had experience with the memory i have? and if so, how tight of timings have you got with em? i know they aren't the bling bling of the memory world tho so i'm not expecting like 2-2-2-5 or anything. i've done a search for mods for this board but haven't come up with much so far, so any info on that would be sweet! btw, anyone know the best BIOS for OCing with this board, i recently flashed to the 20 (avalible in ABIT's public ftp) and haven't found it to be much better then the 19, and i don't even know whut it fixes yet either. sorry for rambling on, i'm shure theres more i wanted to ask but i think i've gone on long enuff!

I've found very little difference between any of the later BIOSes. I'm running 19 now which netted me zero gain in OC over 18 and 17. However, I usually run the latest as the tend to be more bug free...generally speaking.

You obviously didn't search very hard. They were right here on xs.
