Can you cut off a thermal probe that is on the mobo, solder a length of wire and use it like that? Or must you use a special type of wire?
It should not matter to much if the probe is resistor based and both ends will be of equal length and low resistance (copper) wire. Suggestion:After desoldering the probe check the resistance value with a Ohm meter without and with soldered on add wires. If you are able to generate a constant temp compare the measured values.

Coolio, thanks. I'll give it a whirl as I really wanna do something else w/ my "system" temp. Put it on the back of my GF4 probably.
