I was just looking at some site about the prescott and some of the sites said that its coming out the jannuary 5th, other ones february 5th and march 5th . . . so when is it really coming out in us and canada????????

Can't wait! they're suppose to be the same prices as current Northwood chips too! They prolly need all copper core hsf. Because of the high wattage output.

According to rumor, the prescotts will be released cheaper than the NWs. Then the prices will even out within two weeks (price drop on NWs).

all i can say is that the only reason i aint upgrading to A64 right now is cos i think prescott wont be a POS, if in 2 weeks i find out it is im gonna be one angry man. but really i doubt that will happen, intel arent morons, hopefully theyll come out with a winner, and ill be upgrading that very second:P

No, its becoze alot of people whant to say it have a new SSE3 by putting Prescotts, but if you look at the description, it have a 0.13micron core, 512K L2, and other

Thought Prescott was MICRON: 0.09 not 0.13... :confused:

eventually it will become 0.09 but the first socket 478's will be 0.13 I think

do you think the binning will work out that the 2.8P will overclock to 3.4P and up ? I'm guessing having the lower multi on the 2.8 would be better ?

It might but we don't know for sure.

I personally would take the 3.4 as it will be their highest quality binned silicon and should scale very well supercooled.

But if I were to pay that much for a chip I would get it in LGA775 format.

ya, Prescott are supposed to do 280FSB w/ 3.2, and ive heard that 3.4 too will do it w/o exotic cooling. Thats really a good deal, if the 3.4 OC to 4.5+ w/ exotic cooling(or maybe more), it can take out the FX51 coze now we have a 1MB L2 too. I just cant wait to see them perform.

You should not go w/ the 2.8, coze if 3.2 can do 280FSB "easy" the 2.8 will do 300++ easy, so after 300 its hard to OC;)

I dont think the 3.4 will b supportted by the socket 478, but rather by the LGA 775 socket. So there will b 2 Prescott chips released the later one will b in the roughly six months later.

I'm in the game for a new CPU so hopefully the Prescott's will do some wonderfull OC'ng.

Sounds exciting. I am getting one of these badboys (3.4G) with some ocz pc4500 ram as soon as it comes out. My prommy is gonna have some fun freezing this baby.

I think high speed RAMs cant go w/ that, coze it will go very high FSB(CPU) so you put 5:4 and have around 230-250MHz w/ some good timings, and that rock!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Skate with PC4500 RAM we can see 300 1:1...

300fsb on a 3.4 gives you 5100mhz....I don't think he has to worry about FSB being too high...

Im pretty sure he gets better score w/ 250+2-2-2-5. And if its chip cant do 250FSB, hes really stuck. So for security i whould go for some BH5 and theyre top quality so you cant go wrong;)
