i saw some threads here ( http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=23813&highlight=renegade ) but nothing intresting....Any other thoughts are welcome :)

you can make some nice cascade with this condensor.. its like he's screaming to become a HX :)

Hmm...Can u be more specific? Perhaps if i can change a condeser and refill it with some other gas?

that could also work :)

Any idea what condeser i need so it can fit in that case?

I wouldn't be so quick to condemn the condenser.

According to the other thread, one of the refrigerants it is approved for is R134A, which means it contains POE oil, and it is also approved for R502, which means it can take the pressure.

I would change the cap tube, fill it with one of the R502 substitutes (R408A, R404A, R507, R402A), and see what happens.

It would be very helpful to know what size/length cap tube it has.

Ok gary thanks a lot...usefull info. I will post pics in a few days. Which gas i must prefer? I am thinking of 404a.....

That would be a good choice. :D

The most important thing to know at this point is the cap tube size, if you can find that information.

Another thing I noticed in the other thread is that the condenser fan is at the opposite end of the case. There is nothing wrong with this, but it means the covers must be in place while running in order to pull the air all the way through.

good point. Maybe i can use two fans in "push-pull" line.

It wouldn't hurt, but probably isn't needed. You could fit a second fan right down in the center of that condenser, and mount it to the tubes with plastic wire ties.

Actually I like the design. It's very simple and compact.

Given the right cap tube and a higher pressure refrigerant, it should give you some decent temperatures. Then the next step, if you're not happy with the performance, would be a more powerful compressor.

If i change the compressor then it will change the whole setup. It is sth that i don't want. Maybe if i use it as a water chiller?

I guess I'm missing something here. What do you mean? How does changing the compressor change the whole setup?

The renegade is designed to keep a CPU at room temperature (+20C). It is limited, not by the compressor, but by the cap tube and the refrigerant. If you replace or extend the cap tube and switch to R404A, I would guestimate that this system could maintain about -10C to -20C under load.

I think people tend to overestimate the importance of compressor size, and underestimate the importance of cap tube size.

Its like the gear ratio in your transmission. You can size it for higher torque or higher speed. The cap tube is sized for faster pulldown or lower temperature. A TEV is like an automatic transmission.

The renegade is stuck in first gear.

"Then the next step, if you're not happy with the performance, would be a more powerful compressor."

If i change a compressor maybe it can not fit in that case.

Anyway i think that u r right with the size of the cap tube.
Thank u for your time.

Or maybe you can find one that will fit.

do i need to change the oil for r404a?

No, both refrigerants use the same oil (POE).

i changed the filter and i fill it with r404. I will change the condessor and the evaporator of course.

without tunning and without insulation -29. I think its pretty good!

The fan can only pull air through the condenser if all of the covers are on. Air flow through the condenser would greatly improve the performance.

I will put a good condeser 17,5x18,5 with one 12cm fan. :)
