Where would I find a copper block I could mill to make a block. I am going to be making a couple of blocks, so I am going to need a piece of copper about 7"x 7" (3/4" or 1" thick). Any one have an approximate cost? Other than Ebay, I have no idea what a large chunk of copper costs.

This is my first post here but I have been reading the phase change and TEC forums here for about 2 months. It seems quite a few people are making their own blocks but I haven't been able to find where anyone is getting their copper.

You guys do great work here :D

Look in the phonebook and find a metals store near you. They'll often have a couple peices of copper bar. I wouldn't want to even think about the cost of shipping copper on top of the actual price of the metal. (but I guess thats only because I'm cheap)

edit: Oh, I get it, you're looking for a price... Probably best to call the places up and ask them, but I think in canadian money (in canada) you'd be looking at 70$+ for a 7x7 chunk that size. If you don't really need the square it might be best to get copper bar as it'll be a bit cheaper.

Thanks for your help. I think I am going to go the scrap route. Shipping will double the cost of the material. I was looking for an online retailer but as I said it would be cost prohibitive. Thanks again
