View Full Version : Is the p4p800 a crappy 865 board?

So...

I have my p4 up and running with the prommy

i am 4.0 ghz stable with my 3.0C

mem running at 2-3-3-6 using 5:4

i mean... i keep getting these crappy scores for a 4.0 ghz processor on 3dmark2k1... and even my super pi score is low...

i looked at the records table and found that a 4.0 ghz p4 should be able to do it around the 33 to 34 second mark.

mine does it at 37 seconds, a full 3 to 4 seconds slower.

what am i doing wrong?

are there any tweaks or tips to make this board faster (besides using bigtoe's special bios)?

It is a very good board! My guess would be that your mem timings are a litle too slow and your ram is working at ~213 because the divider. The real world preformance is grately affected by the timings and FSB bandwith. My system can do super pi in 38 sec but that means that the ram is using 2-5-2-2 timings and is running 242 (303 FSB and 5/4 divider) with pat enabled. How high can you get your ram using 1/1?

It is because you don't have PAT with that board.

yep, but you do if you're running 1:1

i thought the PAT is enabled w/ as long as u have that enable and your cpu fsb doesn't pass 200fsb.

w/ my p4 2.0a setup i can still get full pat enable (only at 174fsb) and memory is at 217mhz 2-2-2-5. scored 39sec under super_pi 1mb test

even with hacked pat, its still crappy at high fsbs (over 250)

well... maybe it was cuz i was using a 2.4C before running at 3.5 with 292 fsb , 234 mem....

and now i'm running 267 fsb, 213 mem....

hmm.... what an interesting problem...

what programs can i use to test for pure clock speed and not ram timings?

PAT is disabled past 200fsb unless you cheat it....

but as i read on all the forums, sites...etc most 875p chipset can't run at a very high fsb either.. any good recommandation?

you sure about that?

i had my ic7 running at 292 fsb with no problems!

I ran a AI7 up to 295fsb 1:1 with my giel below, and 245 1:1 with kingston BH5 1:1 2-2-2-6 No pat an almost 10% slower mem scores in sisoft over my IC7 and IS7.

Maeby we get a new bios that fixes the low mem preformance. The sooner the better:)

p4p800 is fast if memorys are 1:1 and pat fully enabled.
Superpi took 37s. and cpu was 3ghz@ 3650mhz

did u have any type of hack on the pat? b/c the PAT gets disabled once the fsb goes pass 200fsb

download asus p4p8x bios and orginal bios

then go dos -> afudos.exe /ip4p8x.rom /n /pbnc -> boot-> afudos /ip4p800 /n
then your memories work only 1:1 but pat is fully enabled always.
