Ok i got my first MAX3 board, did not have fixed vdd, and the fastest that was able to bench at was 276fsb @ 3:2 and 6-2-2-2. I RMA'd, got a board with fixed vdd, unfortunately because of the vtt problem i STILL can only give it 2.8vdimm, but this board can only bench at like 260fsb 3:2 with that. My options are:

1. Keep the 1st board, (it overclocked better with 2.8v) and and vdimm/vtt mod it.

2. Keep the new board, would only have to do the vtt mod.

3.Keep the old board, and wait for abit to give me a RMA vtt/vdimm fix.

i cant really decide what i should do, i cross RMA'd and right now i have both boards, one of em needs to go back soon. system details in sig

Keep the first board, dont worry about the MC64 cap, fixing the voltage flucuations over 2.8v obviously wont help here.

As for the the VTT fix, the official word... from ABIT PR... Korea, is that they tried to find a fix, and although they did, they do not find the results cost effective or stable enough to RMA boards over.

Which means, the VTT will never be fixed unless you go "third party" and fix it yourself.

Truth is though, your first board hit 276mhz fsb, thats pretty darn good, lots of boards cant do that.

Keep well enough alone.

Rememeber, the Prescotts should work in this board, making higher FSB's out of the question anyhow. The high multiplier of the new chips will keep anything above maybe 270mhz FSB from being attained.

Keep in mind, the board will eventually just be landfill, dont stress over this too much, just have fun.

Yupp, keep the first board with the MC64 still on, since it does higher FSB :)

sounds good, you all pretty much agreed with what i personally thought was best, im gonna keep the first, wait maybe a month to see if abit does anything, if they dont, volt mod

can you really not run 260 at least 5:4?
