I know im quite new here but I have been dabbling with overclocking for a while now. I admit Im no guru but I know a bit :)

My ubber crap 1700xp Tbred A will not boot into windows if the FSB is over 180!

I have tried everything I know to get it to boot into windows fine.

My rig is basically;

NF7-S v2.0
1700xp A
2x256Mb PC3500 HyperX with CH-5
550W PSU
Ti200
etc

I can get into windows with the multi @ 6 and FSB at 217-220 but the graphics are terrible and I cant do anything in windows, lol.

The best I have managed is;
11x155 = 1705 @ 1.58V
10x166 = 1666 @1.55V
9x180 = 1620 @1.6V

To be honest I would be happy if I could get a high FSB with a low multi, but as I said windows craps out the graphics after 180.

Any advice (apart from get a new CPU, lol) is much thanked!!!

PUMP UP the Vc

you WUSS. I run my P4C at higher volts than that. PSH! Thats ur problem. Just kidding of coarse. But seriously, you need more volts. I fed my P4C more than that. But then, it did die the other day didnt it? :stick:

lol I am a wuss, here goes 2.1V (joke)

BTW I am running a Volcano 11 xaser on it, temps are 40'C load :)

Thanks for the advice, its nice having people who help.

give it more vcore first of all.
to determine your max safe vcore, choose a setting (1.8v) for example, and prime95 it. if it goes over 50-55C, which is usually my safe zone, lower it.
with adequate cooling you should be able to do around 1.8-1.85 vcore safely.

enable CPU interface.
put chipset voltage to 1.7v.
put ddr voltage to 2.9 if you're running tight timings above 200FSB.

Ok its @ 1.8V prime95 ing

My cpu is @ 1.71GHz and is staying at 49.5'C

So I guess I needed the Volts :)

I will leave it for a while, but after what should be my next step?

run it at 1.75V and try raising the FSB/multi?

Thanks.

ok..
what are your other voltages?
like chipset
mem voltage?

id say it's safe to run the chipset voltage at 1.7 with only the stock cooling 24/7
same with the mem voltage.

try with a low multi to attain your highest FSB (like a 8 or 9) and then see if you can raise the multi from there..
remember if it's not prime stable, it's a useless overclock.
good luck!

Thanks for the help, but same old problem, raise the FSB over 180 and it boots into windows, it then comes up with an error message to do with registry settings recovered. The screen is 640x480 and at 4bit colour :( And I cant change anything!

Its almost like an AMD safe mode, lol!

I hate my 1700XP POS!!!

On a brighter note, its running at 10x180 = 1.8GHz, at 1.75V

RAM at 6,2,2,2.0 :D 100% stable!!! :banana:

If I can get a screenshot of the error message/screen distorion, I will post :)

Uhm did you do the L12 mod?

Anarki

Yeh I did the L12 mod weeks ago :)

I had it running at 1.89GHz (10.5x180) last nite but it crashed this morning on Prime95 :(

Chpset Voltage is at 1.7V the max, and it wont even do 181FSB with a 6x multi, lol.

why joke? LOL

is it a DUT3C? if it is they are votage whores.. just keep giving it what it wants!:smileysex

i put 2.22 vcore into my 2100 no problem, just got some airflow on it and kept it under 44°, with air!:D my all time highest clock and benchs were dont with that!

but... 1.85 is safe, try it.

DLT3C IIRC, I cant be assed taking off the heatsink right now :)

At the mo Its running at 1.9V stable :)

Will see what I can pump through it before it catches on fire :eek:

Thankyou very very much guys, I am now running at 9x200 with 1.85V. Ubber stable @ 46'C!

I cant believe I was such a wuss and didnt ramp up the core voltage, lol.

I will post back and tell you what my highest overclock is!

Am hoping I can get around 220 FSB :D

Thanks again to TicTac, if he is still here, I am using his 22D Beta BIOS, it rocks! Loving the layout!
