Best HD for high PCI

Hi,

I just got me an A64 3000+ and a asus k8v. But my ibm/hitachi 40 gig HD doesn't really like high PCI busses.

What Hd can handle high PCI speeds ?

WD800JB can do high PCI bus.

Most people dont recommend the raptor coze around 300FSB it comes slow and crappy

I'm thinging of something aroun 45 - 50 Mhz pci bus :)

raising PCI bus increase your perfomance by 0.000% so if you only whant to raise it your self manually, dont. but if youre forced go for the WD800JB. mine can do 60 but i dont let it there coze it gives nothing execpt fry;)

no agp/pci lock on that board...

after setting the fsb above 250, I have to reïnstall windows.

I've always had good luck with seagates, although I've run my quantum fireballs at 45mhz 24/7 for a few months with no problems.

You beat me to it. I don't go 24/7 with the bus upped, but my 80GB Seagate gets over 40 when I want it to. Found it for like $50 recently too.

Better off getting a pci controller rated to 66 mhz to run your drives off of, whatever brand drive you get.

PCI card is the only (best) way to go if you want

to get away from HDD data corruption.

My Seagates Barracuda IV 80GB does fine. 50MHz without corruption.
Hitachi 180GXP 120GB does also do high pci frequency fine atleast 44MHz stable.

WD 600AB would get corrupted at 37.5MHz so i wouldn't recommend WD drives and they are usaly bad in general.
