Alright, my new system keeps halting because it doesn't detect a floppy.

I don't have a floppy, so what should I do?

It's a leadtek K8N
A64 3000+
geforceFX 5900NU
2x256mb mushkin DDR 400

I can't get to teh bios, it stops before I get there.

All the other baords I've had didn't need it.

he said it halts be4 he can get into the bios



so hes answered his own question. if you cant get into the bios you NEED a floppy :rolleyes:

Alright, I just tried out two floppies, and cleared the cmos twice.

With the Floppies attached it won't boot, WTF?

Well, I didn't think so, but I'll try it the other way I suppose.......

Seems like it would still boot up even with it on the wrong way though.

the board is fine, I gave it to him. used it till the last day it shipped out.

At any rate, I'm formatting the drive right now, and I hope to be gaming before I go to bed.

Yeah I figured.. lots of older boards I end up working on have that problem, some even do it with IDE cables.

lol, i havent actualy used a floppy drive for over 2 years and your beautifull new 64bit home-supercomputer actualy REQUIRES one in order to boot!

......natural justice i guess, i just wish i could afford an A64 setup, i still strugeling along with my 2500+ and radeon 8500.
