Hi
I have a P4 2,8 (M0-Stepping), and last week it did 3,9ghz stable at 1,82v VCore. Today i´ve made some benchmarks at 3,7ghz (PCMark2k2...), but i got a freeze while doing the CPU-tests. But only with VCore >1,8, with 1,7v there were no problems passing the tests at the same mhz?
Whats the problem? I modded the ram voltage on my Abit IC7 few days ago, is it possible that this is the problem?

thx for help :)

you are overvolting @ 1.8 for that speed;) Its normal, you have to find the perfect voltage for all your speeds and settings

BTW: good chip and nice work

Your CPU doesn't like 1.8v at 3.7Ghz then...

Ok, thx for your reply I´m going to play with it tomorrow...
I know, the chip is very good

btw: What´s the max voltage I should give to it at doing benches at plain watercooling and with chilled water? (I hope I´m able to use my chiller in the next few days)

w/ plain water a suside run is about 1.75-1.8Vc(NOT FOR 24/7!!!) and chiller i whould not go over 1.85Vc and again just to do benches. Do not, do not go do that at 24/7 and do not let your comp more then i whould say 20min load and 1hour idle. Thats for security

I know more than 1,75v (24/7) isn´t good for the chip, I think ~1,68v is okay for daily use, right?

I think so, I say anything over 1.7 for daily use is too much.

intel says that the max V to reach any pin of the chip should not be higher than 1.7v

ofcourse for a long perioud of time.

Except the EE which is rated at 1.75v max.

i remember reading the absolue vcore is 1.75vcore for the pentium 4 chips, if i remember correctly, and the max temp that the cpu should be at is 65C degrees.. but keeping it at 1.7vcore is just playing it save.. so anything 1.7vcore < shouldn't be used for everyday

but if you just dont care for the chip(like me, i ate my chip:mad:) just put all the volts you whant to go take the higher you can of you chip:D:D...LOL

I love mine ;)
I hope I´ll reach 4ghz tomorrow with my chiller
