hey
Ive just removed the thermal tape from the KHX HS and now it dosnt have a good contact, seem w/ some AS. What can i put that will be better then the tape.
Sorry i CANT post a pic(my Mobo is gone to RMA)
I'm assuming you're referring to the ram heat spreader. I've had good results in the past using some of the normal white compound as it's not conductive.
Just a little on each module /IC.

only the mid of each chip are touching the the HS

I leave my heatspreaders off.
A white non-conductive paste as mentioned above like Ceramique of Alumina but tbh you dont need heatspreaders. Even with in excess of 3v you dont need heatspreaders.

screw that heatspreader, lol
i really dont think it has ANY effect but hiding the memory chips and looking cool...

no HS was comming a little bit hot, but when ive seen whats the thermal tape on it ive said: its way too large to conduct heat and its only carpet...lol. so ive put some AS2 and check, but wasnt touch everywhere.

I would very carefully remove that AS. If it gets in the wrong place it'll kill the ram. You don't need the "heatspreaders."

My AS is placed carefully. What can i put instide of HS??

The best thing to do is to get some wee heatsinks and epoxy those on I reckon, it'll probably cool better that the heatspreaders anyways.

ok, but all of you guys are saying that if i remove the HS is better, but why?

Removing the heatspreaders is a good idea, I was just saying that if you wanted to pop any cooling on them, individual sinks would probably be the best option.

Because with the thick-ass tape they retain heat, without it you aren't going to get good enough contact to remove heat. If you really want to add some cooling to them, st0nedpenguin has the right idea.

Mine barely even get warm with no HS at all. The heatspreader was warmer than the chips are, it just retains heat.
Don't worry about it, it may actually gain some from it.

so if i stay it like im now(w/ AS2) the air pass and it have the half of the contact so it should be better. I think so

Without complete contact its worse because you have hot air trapped in there.

If you have nothing to transfer the heat to, the thermal compound becomes an insulator....

ok thx everyone. I will remove it completely. The only problem is theyre beauteful...LOL

Remove the spreaders (cool looking or not) and put a 80mm over them if you are concerned about heat.

ok, when i will have my mobo back i will be caseless, so i will only drop a fan on those.
BTW: the cool looking was a joke;)
