I dont know if you people read my previous threads, but I am in the process of building a computer right now. So far I think I am doing pretty good. Here is what I have done so far:

http://www.eden.rutgers.edu/~andkhi/computer.jpg

I think I have done everything according to instructions so far, but if you see something out of place please tell me.

Anyway, I ran into the problem when it came time to install the power switch and speaker and the led lights connectors. Here is what I am talking about http://www.eden.rutgers.edu/~andkhi/conn1.jpg

They all are supposed to plug into this long row of pins, how ever it doesnt say which way its supposed to plug in. Does the writing go on the out side or the inside? (the connectors are supposed to make 2 rows). I looked at the diagrams and each wire means a different thing, so the it matters which side i put them in. Who knows which way do I put those connectors in? Thats a lian-li pc60 case and a p4c800-e deluxe mobo, if you need that information.

Also, I was wondering what these connectors are used for?

http://www.eden.rutgers.edu/~andkhi/plug.jpg

I am kinda worried about them because I havent been able to find any space on the mother board to plug them in. My power supply came with 3 main branches of connectors. 2 were sleeved in stainless steel, and 1 in rubber. The first branch that was sleeved in stainless steel, had just one connector on it. It was a large 20 pin connector which plugs into the motherboard, and I guess its the main power supply. The second stainless sleeved connector had 3 plugs in it. First was a 4 pin plug which also plugged into the motherboard and was some kind of power suppply. The other two I am picturing here. I figured that the branches that are sleeved in stainless steeel are probably the main power supply branches, since the third branch has connectors for the cd, floppy etc. I am wondering what these two connectors that I have pictured for? Are they power supplies to some other kind of motherboard? Or are they supposed to plug somewhere into my motherboard? Or what are they?

ok on the powersw it doesnt matter either way is fine (provided you plug it into the right spot on the mobo) the bottom one is a molex standard power for all your everyday devices the other one is for a old school mother board im pretty sure AT i belive i just clipped mine right off....

I looked at the power switch, and it said that one wire is ground, the other one is power. So if I plug it in one side or the other I could put the power hole into the ground pin, and the ground hole onto power pin. That wouldnt work.

White side ground, color side positive. Iyt will work either way on the power but not the LED's

look in your motherboard manual, should tell you where to plug in all of those little jumper pins, also on some motherbaords the pins on the mobo are actually labeled on the PCB. As for the other power connectors, dont worry if you dont use them all up, many seldom do, they are extra power connectors to hook up other devices (optical drives, fans, hard drives, etc.)

Nevermind, dont bother replying anymore, I am just gonna call asus tomorow, and have them figure it out for me.

We will help you, but your manual does have all the answers, and usually MB's are marked right where they plug in.

You might want to take your time on this build, if your having problems connecting the plugs

building your first computer is a pretty important experience IMO, dont think to hard about the jumper pin thing, the answers are right in front of you, i think you should do it yourself so that you can learn more about building systems. I trust the experienced people on these forums more than i trust most tech support

Here is what the motherboard manual says about the whole issue:

http://www.eden.rutgers.edu/~andkhi/man.jpg

As you can see they label each group and each pin individually.

The case (lian-li pc60) only has the connectors labeled in groups. They dont label individual holes.

The manual for a case is just an exploded drawing of how everything fits together, they didnt mention anything about labeling individual holes for these groups. Basically, I know where each connector goes, but not which way they are supposed to face.

Berries,

Just plug them in and if the LED's do not work switch it. It will not damage anything.

Nice case. LianLi is good stuff. Hang around here long enough and that will be sitting on top of a Prommy case mod:D

Or in his case the writing will face up. Usually always works for me. No need to be on hold for 30 minutes.
