Mushkin L2 Black PC3500 2x512 match sticks... I've been waiting for these to come down in price, now I got a chance to get refurbished sticks for $205... Should I do it?

I think youre better to buy some new, refurbished are not garantee and you dont know why its refurbished, so no buy some new

Thats $100 cheaper than I seen those anymore Svenn.

Problem is what were they fixing on the sticks. Hopefully it wasnt something simple and not anything that would hampen overclocking abillity. Then again, you are getting the 1GB of it, so not sure you are overclocking them to harshly to begin with. Why are you going after the 1GB pack anyway...? Vid editing and gaming perhaps versus overclocking?

I would say YES, they are a steal at that price, and I am guessing that they still have the factory warranty regardless of being refubished correct..?

I see you have the 2x512 Corsair....how far ya got it pushed. Typically the big sticks wont go as far as the 256 variety, but who knows.

As long as you can return them without hassle if they are cr@p I would jump on that price.

I'm going for 4x512... Right now these sticks are running around 217-220 5:4 2-2-2... I'm going with an A64 setup within a few months... so I'd like something that would keep up with that.
I'm doing gaming mostly and do NOT try to convince me to not get 4x512 because it's not going to work. SWG takes up to 1GB by itself, and I want to run 2 copies.

I dont quite follow what you are saying hear bud.

You said you are going for 4x512, but then later said not to try to convince you to get 4x512 because its not going to work....?

Contradicted yourself there Svenn ole boy, unless you are saying not to try to get you to buy 4x512 of the Mushkin you are considering..? Not to mention, I wouldnt try to convince anyone that knows more about this sorta thing than myself (that being you bud.).

Are you looking at keeping the 2x512 Corsair and adding the 2x512 Mushkin to hit your wanted 4x512 configuration...?

Whoops, there I fixed it... it was supposed to say do not try to convince me to not get 4x512, hehe. For now I plan on keeping the corsair unless I get a buyer for it at a good price to pay for 2 more sticks of mushkin. I won't buy the mushkin til it comes down in price though.

Oh well, looks like someone bought em already...

I doubt the Lvl 2 black Mushkin will come down. They are the last of the BH-5 chips, so they can just about charge what they want. As Mushkin has the market cornnered for high end BH-5 now, they don't have a need to drop prices on a limited stock of chips.

hmm, I'm lookng at all the refurbished ram at newegg, I would jump on some of those deals.

they are probably "like new", because some guy probably bought the BH-5 thinking they would get an amazing overclock and when it couldn't do 2-2-2-5 at 2.5v the guy probably thought they were defected or crap and returned them. Newegg wouldn't sell it anyway if it wasn't "like new". Now is the time to stock up on BH-5 if any. They will probably disappear soon.

Yep, looks like the BH5 base sticks are dwindling away. Noticed NewEgg raised the price of Mush. level II from $139 to $153 per 512MB stick. NE and ZZF are also out of stock of Corsair XMS3500. I just ordered some Kingston non-A 3200, hope they do good in this P4C800E-D I'm setting up...

I just got some Mushkin stuff so for BH-5 i have

6x 512MB XMS3500C2
2X 512MB OCZ PC3500 Plat LE DC
4x 512MB Mushkin PC3500 Black LVL2 DC (2 pairs)

XMS3500C2 and OCZ PC3500 Plat LE DC all can do 217mhz 2-2-2-6 at 2.9-2.95v for XMS3500C2 and 2.65-2.75v for OCZ and 240 2-2-2-6 on Abit AI7 at 3.2v

Mushkin PC3500 Black LVL2 first pair i'm testing can only do 217mhz 2-3-2-6 at 2.8v on AI7 and can't do 2-2-2-6 at even 217mhz regardless of how much voltage i give it as it will error out 201 passes into looping Memtest86. Can't run any GAT or NB Strap 667FSB for PAT like performance at 217mhz 2-3-2-6 (2.8-3.2v vdimm) 1.65v vAGP will throw bios checksum error, while XMS3500C2s and OCZ PC3500 Plat LE handle NB Strap 667FSB fine

Gonna test 2nd pair of Mushkin tomorrow...

I guess part of the problem is bios/board related as i'm sure Mushkin will do 2-2-2-6 on P4C800-E

well you better buy some now if you want then mushkin has it listed on their site that blk lv 2 is sold out indefinatly which might be why newegg raised the price

If they were from newegg or straight from Mushkin. The i would, and if you were saving at least $50.

I've bought returned used memory from mushkings Beu's Bargan link on Mushkins site no problems. And i've bought Memory from Neweggs refurbs before.

Test it out thouroghly soon as you get it. ie.. Memtest, Sisoft burnin, Pifast and the usual. if you dont have problems the first 24, you should be alright.

Just read that again, not good, Any problems with it on any otherboard, even though i know it's not the board but i have to ask.

I can get 252 1:1 2-2-2-6 out of my Lvl2 mushking 3.4v. 245 1:1 out of my geil 3500 2-2-2-6, 262 fsb 1:1 3.55v out of my kingston 3500 2-2-2-6. All of these are BH-5 memory.

Hope you have better luck with your second set Eva2000, And gat settings work fine on all my boards, and a boost on the AI7, not what i want but it works kinda.

2 2 2 6 is not supported in a 865/875 chipset. mushkin specifically says 2 3 2 6 is official timings for level 2 due to chipset limitations.

2 2 2 6 however works fine on NF2 setups.

Tedinde, i'll be testing on other boards to make sure it ain't a bios SPD detection problem as well

doesn't explain how 8 x 512MB other BH-5 sticks can do 2-2-2-6 on same boad, AI7

6x 512MB Corsair XMS3500C2 from (024117, 0331125 and 0337061 batches)
2x 512MB OCZ PC3500 Platinum Limited Edition dual channel
