View Full Version : Finally got 29s in superpi :)
it took the kingston pc3200 over the mushky to do it.... vdimm is at 3.65v
have to go back to work for a little while, going to play with it some more tonight but i dont think i can lower this score.. I did run car high at 273 1:1 2,5,2,2 and got 150.2fps... but it crashed miserably in lobby low.. LOL

amazing! :toast: very very nice!
does the memory run hot? maybe at those high volts extra cooling helps you to gain some more stability!
yes it is bh5 memory, 1x256 Kingston HyperX PC3200... I do have a fan blowing on it but it really doesnt get as hot as you might think.... Dont get me wrong it gets hot but not blistering or anything.. LOL
My Mushkin pc3500 maxed out at 263mhz 2,5,2,2 for 3dmark, the chip seems to max out between 271 & 273 so i needed ram that could do it 1:1 2,5,2,2.
Its the Shuttle AN50R, its really a great mb for overclocking the ram because it gets the vdimm from the 5v rail instead of the 3v rail....
Here is a little screeny of 150fps in car high :D, the 9800XT is at stock speeds for this because it really doesnt make any difference in this test

Very nice!
Same system as me but Im going 1x512 PC4200 w/ Prometeia Mach2
Have you noticed any harddrive corruption yet? Can you run @ 2.9~3Ghz for 24/7 use?

you should really think about getting a cheap stick of kingston just for overclocking, it was like $66 shipped:) Im sure that pc4200 is great ram but the high timings will kill your score...
No hd corruption at all..... Dont have to worry about that unless your on a via board..
As for 2.9-3ghz for 24/7 use i would have to say no, i have to put 1.84v to get it to run above 2.9, 1.95v for 3.0 and IMO that is too much for 24/7 use. There is really no need anyway, its VERY fast at stock speeds...

when i ran that car low i was only testing cpu/mem... my vga chiller wont be here until next week so most of the tests i cant really improve that much on from my 28k score until i can get the XT clocks up

Well Im not doing this for benchmarking. Just want to run high fsb and game. I am pretty sure my system is capable of 28~30k but it will be useless to me. I don't bench.
Which dimmswould be a better choice for 250~260 fsb
choice 1 http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=20-146-926&depa=1
choice 2 http://www.excaliberpc.com/product_info.php?cPath=163_520_327&products_id=2922

No for the 28k my XT was running 546/435, the car low test that i have above has no XT overclock
picked up a little ice for the XT and broke 29k, link in my sig :D

Did you have to mod any of your psu rails to run that OC? I was wondering because i thought high rails were suspicious for killing a64's. I assume you had to at least do something to your 5v rail because of the ram & cpu.
Very, very, very nice clocks. Can't wait to see what you can do with that vga chiller you have coming. Is it going to be anything similar to your cpu cooling?

i have an Antec TrueControl psu, i have the 3.3v rail modded to go up to 3.65v but its not needed..... 12v rail is 12.25v, 5v rail is 5.16v, and 3.3v rail is 3.40v... voltmods on the mb are really the only thing required, and some good ram of course:)
the vga chiller is exactly the same as my cpu chiller so it should cool it down very nicely:D
