Hi fellas,

I got myself in kind of a problem here. I've heard more reports of fellas having their NB-HS fall off due to failing studs on the mainboard. Well, happened to me too. I decided to epoxy it back on using AS/Adh, as I don't have warranty anyway, as it was a review sample. Problem is, be4 the epoxy job the board would do 290+ FSB's no sweat, being helt back by the stock Intel CPU HS/F (@ the time). Right now, I can't even OC beyond 210 FSB anymore  . System temp shows ~ 32°C, which doesn't seem that high to me, yet, I didn't bother taking notice of it when all was okay.

Does any1 have a clue to what might be causing the problem? I'm pretty confident the HS and NB do have good thermal contact, as this wasn't exactly my first AS/Adh endevour ;)

Did you use the epoxy directly on the nb chip? Or did you just epoxy the loops back to the mb?? I'm curious because my tiger one is about to rip out of the mounting holes and fly across the room. My soldering skills aren't exactly up to par yet and i doesn't look like i'll have much of a post to attach the loops too anyways.. But I don't want to lose any oc performance if I have to epoxy the hs back on

DeForce,

LOL, no I didn't epoxy the studs back on, slim chance that'd work I'd say :P I epoxied the HS directly onto the NB, but OC'ing got greatly reduced somehow. I tried soldering it back on, but I guess my soldering skills are not that great either :)

It's a dang shame them mounting holes are gone on all good Intel boards.

If you epoxied your NB heatsink on, did you make sure you left the "shim" on the bottom of the heatsink, and that you only put the epoxy on the core?

Otherwise I would say that you might be overheating or shorting one of the caps on top of the NB package.

Hmm,

Something strange is going on here...
The matter seems to have solved itself. Without changing anything, I tried overclocking again yesterday, being certain I'd be helt back by the strange phenomenon that emerged right after the AS-Adh job. As I made it to 300FSB yesterday, without breakin' a sweat, I think it's save to say my problem is solved (somehow).
