yeah, thats the situation...i have a 2.4 SL6Z3, record = 3.7 but unstable, for benchmark i can run it at 3.57~3.59...
my friend has a P4 2.4 D1 malay week 21 , that is stable @ 3.5 with vcore stock :slobber: some people wants my p4 2.4 m0, so i'm thiking about getting an old n good d1 and selling my M0...what do u guys think!?!?!

it is still pretty much luck of the draw, the only thing is that M0 steppings give consistently better overclocks than other steppings, however there are most definately some D1's out there that are better than a lot of M0's, if you want to be almost gaurenteed to get a decent overclock tho, M0 is the way to go

The M0 is made principaly for a higher clock(3.2EE) so the only thing its Intel are downclocking the CPU. So the CPU will do easily 3.4(im saying 3.4 coze its a P4EE so more room), and after it will do like you OC an 3.2EE, Its like ive youve pick a P4EE that can only do 3.5;)

Unless your friend is willing to throw in some cash with the trade I wouldn't bother... While overclocking is luck of the draw, M0's seem to hit higher speeds on average. Of course the key word is average. :)

My 2.4C D1 will actually do 4 GHz but my mobo is holding me back. ;)

yeah thanks for the opnions...
my 2.4 M0 cant open windows at 3.5 with 1.525v , blue screen after loading...
his D1 is stable 2.4@3.5 with 1.525v
he will sell it for buy a 2.8 , he is finishing his phase change....
i think i'll sell mine n buy his...

Are you using 5:4 or 3:2? The problem might be somewhere else.

I have a D1 and before doing the vdimm mod to my board, I couldn't go past 275, because the memory was holding me back with 5:4. After the vdimm mod, I run my rig @ 3.54 (295/5:4) 24/7, and I can bench @ 3.72 (310/5:4).

BTW, what's your friend's board?

i'm using 3:2 does it cause problems?

No, it doesn't. But we can assume it's not the RAM that's holding you back.

When I hit a wall, the last thing I blame is the CPU. I first try to see if there's anything wrong with other parts. Things I'd try in your case:

- up the vcore.
- ask my friend to try the CPU out on his board.

I like Abit boards, but in my opinion/experience it has some issues in handling high FSB's - save some rare exceptions. I had an IS7, that wouldn't past 260, even with a vdimm mod.

It may be your CPU, but I'd blame your board first.:)

The big problem is that we are from differente states...he is from brasilia n i'm from rio ( its a big distance ) i think that its de cpu cause:

with 1.525 when i enter the windows with 3.5 = blue screen
with 1.650 i can run bench with 298+- fsb
with 1.650 and 301 fsb the system reboots after windows loading

what do u think?

my system is aircooled...is a little complicaded...it would reduce the processor life...i i think that i put 1,7 once hen i get the record...

nem imaginava que vocĂȘ fosse brasileiro :D
but anyway lets talk in english bc almost no one here talks portuguese :p:
i dont think that its the mainboard cause when i change the vcore i can get some over...

i think that i will change the cpus...the other one goes stable at 2.4@3.5 its rare, isn't it?
the unique problem is that i will sell my M0 n buy a old D1, but anyway the D1 will have more performace ( i think )

Yeah, bro, I was born in Rio, but I live in Massachusetts now. ;) Like I told ya, I really don't know what else to say about your problem. But I hope everything works out for you, my friend.

I've heard that the D1 Malay week 21, are good o/clockers. That's what I got, and it looks like your friend does, too.
