Will BH-5 continue to be better than ch-5 when socket 939 rolls around? I know any response will be out of speculation but I'd just like to hear some opinions. I'm considering selling my ch-5 and buying some bh-5.

I have a feeling manufacturers will gear the bioses for CH-5 in the future.

lucky I have CH-5 then, well, rebadged.:D

You can recognize that to the RAM modules, the last three places, either bh-5 or ch-5.

So whats the consensus? What should people be buying now if they don't want to buy new ram when/if they upgrade to 939 later on? BH-5 or CH-5?

Don't bother checking Volcom, you *do* have BH-5, beyond and doubt.

is there anyway to check what it is? and 250fsb 1:1? also what timings r u using? i cant seem to go much higher then 200mhz without increasing my CAS latency to 2.5, but that was b4 i was having cpu troubles, so maybe now it changed, il lcheck later, but what timings do u use anyways? and what ratio.

I would assume he's using 2-2-2-5, since 3.3v should easily allow BH-5 to do those timings at 250.

Actually 11-2-2-2 is the timings at 250fsb.
They will loop Memtest #5 for 10hrs and only give 2 errors.
So I figure with alittle more juice they would be error free.

I just ordered 2x256 Buffalo 3700 BH5 from New Egg... I will find out next week what it will do in my Infinity.

i cant seem to boot at 2.9v on ram and 1.7 on chipset at even 215fsb, with timings of 2-3-3-11 on my abit nf7-s rev2 board. i think my board may be f'ed up, since these abit boards r known to arrive with some sort of problem. i had a problem b4, i think its my mobo, im gonna bring my ram to my cuzins house and see how high my ram can go there. is there any program that can tell me if i have BH-5 or CH-5 chips?i got this ocz pc3200 rev2 ram on sept 23rd. clockedOut...do u run ur ram in dual channel mode?

clockedOut

Yes mine is dual channel....

SORRY Techmasta.... back ON TOPIC!!!

I believe BH5 will still rule... until tight timings dont make as much difference.

clockedout, youve been saying this for ever and ever, dude. you DO NOT have BH-5, i know for a fact. OCZ did not use BH5 in those sticks. Take off your spreaders and look, i bet youll be surprised. Im kinda close to a tech there names sean, and hes tellin me that hes pretty sure that the only BH-5 they have EVER used is in the Platinum 3500 Limited Edition. MAYBE, just maybe some other, but i know 99.9999999999% sure youve got something other than BH-5.

Well thats pretty funny... cause I asked Sean the same question and he said he was petty sure it would have been BH5.

Well bigpoppa since you seem to wanna be a :banana::banana::banana: about this..
below is what I based my belief on since I had NEVER pulled the heat spreaders off... this was cut from my PM on the OCforums.

Re: My old OCZ 3200 rev2
Wow, you bought memory from the future!?

Can you go forward to 2007 and see what's going down, just so I can get a head start with OCZ and all?

Hey Sean,
I just ran across one of your posts and decided to take you up on your offer...

My question is ... my old 2x256 sticks of OCZ 3200 rev2 would these be BH-5 chips? They work pretty good I was just curious.

Thanks!!

I would guess CH5, as even the newer NF2 chipsets coming from NV are (look at the late Abit boards).

i totaly agree, LATE CHIPSETS LIKE CH-5! but as it looks now, the infinity is the exception. but the last 3 nf7 i had, HATED BH5, ...popped in some ch5 and did 240. heh.. but yunno, id say bh5 will be the best bet, but keep some ch5 close by. :D

clockedOut
01-09-2004, 08:02 PM
They are still making CH-5, correct?

So it shouldnt be a problem like the BH-5 has become.

afireinside
01-09-2004, 08:29 PM
CH5 is mainstream really. Its in almost all the PC3200 and PC3500 KHX and XMS and OCZ and stuff.

If were moving towards CH5 what do I do with my BH5 I havent used yet? I could RMA but I opened it to check the heatspreader colors for a friend :|

I guess once you feed that much voltage down the BH-5, the mobo is gonna have to like them no matter what. I am still contemplating the Vdimm mod so I can really heat up those Mushkies, but damn those solder points are small....

I have a single 512 stick of CorsairXMS 3200 v1.1 (cmx512-3200C2)

What chips does it use? BH-5?

AFAIK they're BH-5's. I am doing up a thread on Corsair's "House Of Help" about what chips the Corsair range use & I got some info that they're bh-5.

Have a look here: (http://www.houseofhelp.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&postid=98678#post98678)

I reckon the chipset manufacturers are going more geared twards mainstsream CH-5 as well...

Whoops, wrong forum...hehehehe better get out... :toast:
