I have the ASUS A7N8X-X mobo and i just got a new case that has a firewire port on the front ( Bought specifically for this purpose) I do alot of video editing and my Digital Camcorder uses a firewire port for the best quality.

The connectors on the firewire port look to be the same as those of a USB connection but im not sure. Anyone know if this will work?>

Your motherboard should have a USB and a Firewire header. The headers are different (you cannot hook the firewire cable to the usb header on the MB) Look at you manual for the correct pin placement and it should work fine.

Conflict, does you're case also have the cable to the motherboard?
Usually the mobo just has the slotbracket cable included. You can't use that on the front of the case. no?

i know for a fact the a7n8x has a pin out for firewire in the manual. its very easy to understnad. sometimes the cable has diffrent terms on the wires then in the chipset but u can figure it out thro process of elimination. if u cant figure it out honestly after a day or so i will give u soem detialed information, but u should be ablke to figure out and should try =)

but lemme know

Well looking through the manual i see that there is a 1394 pin opttion..in the manual it shows those pins on there...but my board is missing them :(
