chances for the ABIT SiS755 A64 mobo increase!
(btw, KV8-MAX3 is a VIA board - TodB)

I read that too, but I HIGHLY doubt it.
And I do trust most of the things that INQ manages to hear about. Just this seems silly.

this could easily be, like a lot of the larger gfx card makers, they may simply want to cash in and make the more expensive ati cards, which nvidia is just not happy about.
:p fueling teh rumour mill, so much fun :)

I hope Abit ditches Nvidia and signs on with ATI.

Xbitlabs has article about it ~ Seems like Abit *is* signing on with Ati and will be making 9600XT and 9800XT cards.

Yeah, I know what you mean, but this seems quite real....

Uh.... what an *****.... :am:
but hey! a VIA board with the right dividers or even AGP/PCI lock would be just as good.... like that would ever happen:rolleyes:
But if it did it would be nice:D

Personally I really hope NVIDIA picks itself up off the floor since I'd hate for ATI to end up with no competition for as long as NVIDIA did... Besides, it's only their latest generation of gfx cards that have sucked, everything else before was great and both of their chipsets!
Having said all that, unless they do something rather special I'll be buying ATI for my next gfx card.

it's the nVidia chipset nforce2 board reference design, not Abit.. Abit itself is not bad. Look how well the boards are with the Via KT series i.e. 266a/333/400/600. As soon as the nVidia chipset reference design stepped in, getting huge number of RMAs.. that wouldn't help profits.

abit are fairly poo, nvidia are increases sales, just not in the miniscule higest end area. Though the 5950 is extremely cheap(comparitively, i can get one for 1/4 maybe 1/3 cheaper right now) with better ram which you supposedly have to pay more for.
Thats just nvidia increasing its profits in the gfx sector, in the chipset sector its gone from a nobody to a main player in a very short space of time, no one recommends the kt600 on forums do they, and few now recommend the via kt8 chipset either. When only way, 14 months ago no one would recommend nvidia at all.

I'm not talking about the video card sales.
The nVidia been doing fantastic job making those GeForce cards upto 4. What I have been talking about was how "poo" the nvidia did with the nForce2 boards, not to mention nForce1, but nForce1 isn't the point, it's the NF2 boards getting incredibly large amount of RMAs. RMAs do not "boost" profits, instead, it "decreases" profits not only the nVidia itself, but pisses off Abit, Asus, Epox, and all other "mommy" board makers as well. ;)

maybe they don't know how to overclock?..
maybe they were pushing 250FSB?.. pretty stupid move though. 200FSB is fast enough and still keeps the AGP and PCI bus in spec.. Even 210~ 220FSB is not a problem even with flakey poor AGP/PCI components. Another thing... why only picking on the KT600?.. is that the only thing?.. what happened to KT266a series.. and other Via type boards?

No wonder nVidia NF2 boards been having so much bugs, BIOS corrupt, and other hardware problems that cause the boards to die. They don't have as much experience as the "impressive" Via company. The thing called "long research and development". You make something quick, you get whackked, that's what happens to nVidia.
Don't... shift to wrong direction...

Abit have said in a press relase that they will continue to make boards with nVidia chipsets. :)

Apparently it's been confirmed by both Abit and nvidia. Abit have also confirmed they will be making ATi XT cards btw ;)
However, i dont think they are stopping the nforce 2 line

Allot of shops and OEM type places will recomend KT600 on reliability and ease of use grounds..
KT600 isnt an overclocker but its a reliable performance board and it does sell into the small system builder and (to a lesser extent) into the OEM market..
You wont see them on forums.. you will see them in your aunties PC, quietly working away at stock speed.

I don't know who I would rather see get ditched by the other - Abit or Nvidia. Both of them need to get their act together.

Let me pose this to you.....
Let's say the nForce chipset didn't
lock the AGP/PCI bus system.
Which way would we go.... Nvidia or VIA?

tough question. it would come down to features for the money at that point.
