Hi,

I'm going to build TEC-based WC system with Swiftech.

Here's how:

I believe it is self-explanatory.

Will this work or should I stick to Peltier-based waterblocks?

It won't work. If your goal is room temperature water, then use bigger rads. If you want cooler watter, then add more TECs and take the rad out, since it will be heating the water at that point. I would stick to TEC blocks, unless you either have a lot of TECs, or you buy Swiftech's TEC waterchiller (works quite well).

So-o-o...

You suggest removing that reservoir and putting Peltier-based waterblock instead?

Also, Samlex are recommended by Swiftech. Is it enough 1 such PSU to power up Peltier-based CPU and GPU waterblocks?

That TT spark 7+ is really not capable of cooling all that water....you wont gain anything but its a pretty cool drawing :P

So I will stick to reservoir and TEC waterblocks... Thanks, pals!

What I'm suggesting is put any TECs you use directly on the thing you are wanting to cool, such as the CPU.

Yes, I meant Swiftech produces waterblocks with pre-installed Peltiers. I will get such.

But will be their Samlex enough to power up TEC-based CPU and GPU waterblocks?

No, only the CPU 226watt pelt.

You can use a decent yet cheap PC power supply for the GPU though, like a 350watt fortronn.

I saw it comes with 4-pin Molex connector. IIRC MCW50-P uses 115W Pelt...

So. Samlex (25A on 12V line) is for Pelt. Another PSU for GPU Pelt, like 300-350W.

Do you know how much power draws that 115W pelt for GPU?

OK, I found that = 7.5A

At 12V I think it's around 8.5 Amps.

I'm not sure, but get something with like 15A on the 12V line and you'll be fine to run the GPu pelt and case fans off of it.

How to determine if I have those 15A @ 12V line?

OK, found it.

Take a look at this pic: http://www.maximumoc.com/img/hardware/zalman_zm400a-apf/label.jpg

It says like I have 15A on 12V. Correct?

It does, but I mean just for the TEC.......Honestly, if you hook it all up I think your PSU will either die on you, or your rails will be insanely low.

You can pick up another PSU for your TEC for maybe $30.

Argh! ;)

Now I see.

How about Coolmax CT-400 Taurus 400w PSU for $39.95? They claim it has 18A on 12V line.

http://www.mpja.com/productview.asp?product=15055+PS

That will work if you want a cheap and small PSU for it.

PCP&C is the best PSU's too.

Um-m-m... How nice. And dirt cheap.

Thanks! ;)
