i just sold my z-540's, as i have a smaller room now and cant use surround.

SOOOO.....

i need advice on a 2 speaker set that is high quality for gaming. i want a subwoofer, also, if possible, as when i blow ยงยงยงยง up, i love to hear it rumble :D

can i get 2 speakers separate and a sub separate? will a regular powered sub connect to my nf7-s 's onboard soundstorm? (w/ subwoofer out [black hole]). models and links of quality speakers would be helpful. i am looking to spend around $100 or so, but that may change if need be. thank you very much!

I haven't seen any reviews on those new klipsch models. But if they are anything like the older 2.1 model they should be awesome.

Well, my Z-340's pwn IMO, but then I've never really heard anything more high end than it.

If i didn't own better, i'd get these.
My friend got a set of these and i'd say they are the best setup in that price range.

The new ones haven't been recieved as well overall. They are better for gaming and theatre supposedly, but lack the smooth response and accuracy of the older model.

hmm..those look awesome, but $140 is really pushing it (plus shipping on top of that)

is there any other brand besides klipsh and logitech that are high quality that i am missing here?

Honestly, Ive always liked Altec Lansings. They do pretty decent from what Ive heard. Never personally heard any complaints on them either.
Neweggs Page (http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduct.asp?submit=manufactory&catalog=60&manufactory=1063&DEPA=0&sortby=14&order=1).
The prices vary between $31 and $97. Of course that is before shipping, but dont think it would be too high afterwards.

Stay away from the cheaper klipsch models. I hear they suck major balls.

xoxide manufactured some new speakers with sound activated cold cathode lights. The sound isnt that good, but they look pretty sharp

You've obviously never owned a Klipsch system, even the lowly 2.1's are awesome, in fact thats what I use and I ain't gettin rid of them anytime soon

I HIGHLY recommend the system Tedinde recommended

http://www.ecost.com/ecost/shop/detail.asp?dpno=968601

$119 shipped or $128.95 overnighted to you.

you cant go wrong with that deal, even on Ebay (http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?cgiurl=http%3A%2F%2Fcgi.ebay.com%2Fws%2 F&MfcISAPICommand=GetResult&ht=1&from=R7&ebaytag1=ebayreg&query=klipsch+ProMedia&query2=klipsch+ProMedia&search_option=1&exclude=&category0=&minPrice=&maxPrice=&ebaytag1code=0&st=&SortProperty=MetaEndSort) They cost more than that second hand.

If your in no rush check out Klipsch's site and elsewhere, I've seen refurn 2.1's sell for as little as $79

I paid $99 for mine new at Bestbuy during a sale.

Actually, I have and owned klipsch 2.1 and 4.1s. They have issues, but overall, I am very pleased with them.

Btw, I wasn't talking about their older 2.1/4.1 line, I was showing my dislike towards the Klipsch GMX series, like the one faruquehabib provided with in his second post. You don't need to jump to conclusions so quickly Silversink.

ok, so i did some research and yes, the gmx series are way less powerful than the old 2.1/4.1's. so far, those refurb 4.1's are the by far best deal. i can always just use 2 of the 4 speakers, right? :D

Yes, just plug in the two front satellites and leave the rear satellites unplugged.

Or you can do it the [H] way. Cut the rear satellite's wires and when you want to use them again, just splice them together. :slobber:

I had the original 4.1's whatever the model was an upgraded the Control to the newer model made a difference, There used to be a crackle when turning up the volume and Xover points were changed.

I always check Klipsch's site for factory refurbs straight from them. the 2.1 system is murderously loud for a 2.1.

I keep a set around Never had a customer turn a set down when you crank them up!!!

If i didnt get such a good deal on my 680's id have klipsch's now. Love my optical output on these. The 5.1 klipsch's are expensive. But they are very nice. Friend has a set.
