Just got my Geil Ultra Platium PC4000 today and thought to finally do some overclocking and find out how high my FSB can go. It POSTs @ 230 but won't boot into windows my next try was at 225Mhz and it's rock solid stable ran Generals Zero hour for half an hour to test stabilty. I find C&C Generals/Zero Hour to be best if it runs for half an hour, even in the main menu with out kicking back to windows or giving error messages you know it's stable. However it only seems to be best when used detecting problems with memory/ memory timings and CPU clock speed.

This memory is doing 2.5/3/3/7 @ 2.7v not the best but it is PC4000 memory which doesn't give great timings. I just got it incase i go Intel or so i can get a high FSB for the Athlon64 at a later date :)

Also the test was on a MSI K7N2 DELTA-L so not a great overclcoker and no chipset voltage :(

For everything stock. That's pretty good for that board.

Different memory might be needed to get lower latency settings though.

Good luck

Thanx :)

Yeah i got PC4000 for future proofing, AMD has said they don't intend on boosting their FSB but they did with the XP. Heard AMD might do 259Mhz FSB for the 939pin CPU so better safe then sorry :) My current CPU can do 2.4GHz however it's only 99% stable can do Prime95 for hours but Generals crashes it so not quite 100%. Also i don't think it's worth Also the K7N CPU voltage fluxates too much which is why it's not 100% stable. @ 1.8v it will go as low as 1.7v and as high as 1.85v which is quite a diffrence. My next board will be alot better :)

you could always up your ram volts past 2.7

It's the max my board will give :( (auto/ 2.5v/ 2.6v/ 2.7v)
Another thing i noticed is my computer is overall cooler since i replaced my TwinMOS PC2700 & Infineon PC3200 @ 400MHz 2.5/3/3/7 with the Geil Ram, 2C cooler for my processor, board and PSU is nice :)
