can you guys advise me on a better substitute for di-electric grease? I couldnt find this thing in our place and I was just wondering if its ok to use an all-purpose grease.

You need to use something that water proof and something that you can shove into the socket pin holes without restricting pin contact (current).
Not sure all "greases" will allow you to do that...not to mention that once you start filling up that socket with grease, its a mess trying to remove it because it inhibits the cpu from working properly.
Order some off the web..its only $4. I couldnt find it locally either. I also couldnt find the liguid tape locally and decided to use a thin layer of silicone instead.
